Let's gift them Steve Kean. he'll have thenm in the Champions League next season. Whoops, he's still confusing the Champions league with the Championship.

Here is a plan. If Randy puts 5m on Capello at 25/1 to be the next manager than means we can get rid of McLeish, sign Capello on 6m a year and still have 100m+ left for a transfer kitty!!! Now that would be clever business ;-)

I would forget about getting Rodgers,Lambert etc why leave a safe seat for a club that needs a vast playing staff overhaul with no money to spend. The sort of manager we will probably end up looking at is Curbishly did a good job at Charlton for many years on a shoestring budget and an ex Villan cannot see bright young managers comming to Villa Park at the moment given the financial constrictions.

there is some real quality on that list, but I would quite like to see you go with kevin McDonald, who I notice isnt on that list. he is a man with claret and blue in his blood and perhaps considering that there seems to be a definite plan to go with the kids, why not appoint the man who brought them through to first team level?

Good point oxfordspur but I don't think Kmac really wants the job..He enjoys his current role and is eexcellent at it. Would Martinez, Poyet or Lambert want to leave their 'safe' jobs? If not, what about Lee Clark. Out of work. Great record at Huddersfield. Maybe an experienced Director of Football with him? I know that system hasn't always worked but I thought Houllier would get that role when he left.

Real quality on that list? I have to disagree. Moyes would be good, but there's no chance of that. Lambert might work, but it's a big gamble, Curbishley might be able to do a job, but Souness, Strachan, Hoddle? And I really don't get this thing about Martinez. Wigan finished 11th in Steve Bruce's last year - then the season he took over they finished fifth from bottom - and endured defeats of 9-1 and 8-0. He has one of the consistently worse records in the Premiership, yet just because he pulls off the odd shock result people seem to view him as a contender. I really think he is worse than McLeish.

KMAC is good at what he does. You do not put someone who can drive a mini in the pilots seat of a plane. It is dangerous. Leave him where he is and where he is actually very comfortable and very good. This is where it all gets interesting though because there are so many options available (or could be made available) there will not be a single candidate who we all agree on. However as supporters we must not be seen as dictating who replaces McMuppet. What Lerner must do is learn andunderstand that there will always be one or two people that would simply never be accepted as Villa Manager and avoid them like the plague. We are fair minded supporters, but many Villa Fans are knowlegeable football men who live and breath the club and automatically know when an error of judgement is about to be made. We knew it about McLaren and we knew it about McMuppet. This isn't the fans choosing, this was basic commom sense and the feeling that an American who doesn't quite grasp the whole culture yet, was walking us down a terrible road. So to many of the names on the list there would be a welcome sign bigger than McMuppet's excuses list. Capello, Benitez, Martinez, Hughton, Poyet/Zola ( I have mentioned that a few times as the talk within the club) Lambert, Rogers, Deschamps, DiMatteo. Yes to all. Megson. ODeary, Strachan, Worthington, Lennon, Keane, Withe, McCarthy No to all. The rest are interesting choices and it would be fun. So unless Randolph is about to make another m

I think if McCleish does go (as most hope), we need to not only get in a new manager but a Director of Football too. I dont think Rodgers has proven himself yet another season minimum is needed. I think Martinez plays great football and I like the 343 but I still dont think he is a great manager still fighting relegation seems to show no real progress from season to season. I like the idea of Chris Hughton (yes he would be coming from the sty) but seems to have a good footballing brain, is willing to attack and now done a good job at two teams in difficult situations. Would love a Deschamps type I think he is a great manager but is a bit to high profile to consider us and has never stayed long enough at a club to really build anything. Key for me is that they must be young, passionate and willing to stay to build us back up. UTV!

Its nice to hope i suppose don't mean to be a misery spoil sport but just can not see Randy sacking Mcleish, it would cost in excess of upto 4million to pay him off and his backroom staff then then if by a miracle and Mcgrath willing Randy does sack the clueless twerp it would then cost more Millions to buy say Lambert or Rodgers out of there respected clubs contracts so if Randy does sack Mcleish expect Curbishley or a Bruce as Randy would not have to pay any clubs money to sign them as they are out of work, i wonder why they are out of work lol, nah for me Mcleish is still going to be here next season and i will not be if this is the case sorry! It seems we are in an odd stand off here. I dont think Randy wants him incharge anymore, We dont want him incharge and I dont think he wants to be incharge anymore (as I think he sees it as not worth the trouble). Randy does not want to spend the money to get rid, Alex does not want to quit as he would lose money and we are stuck in the middle unable to do anything. Simple Randy should just pay the money and put this down to experience.

Mark from Dudley, I don't agree with you on Martinez. Unlike McLeish, he's never taken a club down from the Premiership. I'd rather have a fresh start with him in charge and the fans fully behind him than stick with McLeish any day of the week. I accept it looks unlikely McLeish will leave right now given the comments he's come out with, but I'd be flabbergasted if he's still in charge by the time the new season starts.

Kev, no Martinez hasn't taken a team down from the Premiership, but the mid-table Wigan side he inherited were much stronger than Birmingham City who, let's face it, are a Championship side. I really can't see what Martinez has achieved at all, other than an obvious talent for public relations.

I'd quite like Lee Clark. Then again, I thought O'Leary and O'Neill would be our messiahs, then got desperate enough last summer to say "let's give McLeish a go, just because nobody else wants to come here". So what I'm really saying is, if I suggest anybody as next manager, please make sure we avoid them like the plague.

I think Martinez is a shoe-in, he's taken Wigan as far as he can, had a great run of late. He will want to leave on a high, Randy will get him this time. Come to Villa, 5 year plan to rebuild the club from top to bottom, what a great challenge for a young manager. I've been texting my Blackburn fan mate saying McLeish would be perfect for them :)

The question to be answered is who on that list is unemployable and desperate enough to take the job ? Not who we would like. 10 months ago we had a list of applicants numbering 1 !!! Remember the other one turned us down to stay at mighty Wigan. So whats changed in those 10 months - we look worse and must be prime candidates for relgation next season. Moyes won't come, Benitez along with other non British Managers will want to splash the Cash. I just hope we get a young vivacious and hungry Manager. I hate it every time I see Curbishly mentioned.

Di Matteo would be good, if Chelsea don't offer him the job then i'm sure he'd be tempted to take a managerial job elsewhere and Villa wouldn't be a bad place to start your managerial career! A young upcoming manager is something i'd love to see. Failing that, Martinez or Lambert would be good. Deschamps or Bilic i'd also take

Forget all the Muppets on the list. The only person to blame for the mess we are in, is our beloved chairman. The best manager we had over recent years was MON - dead certain!! Sixth for three successive years, made a fortune for us with Barry, Milner, Young and Downing. The only one to do any good has been Barry and he's nearly at the end of the road. We then had the useless Houllier, who made our current boss look like Mourhino. He was the instigator of the worst phase of football ever seen at Villa Park since Tommy Cummings. Alex McL just continued it that's all. Face it, if you were offered the job at Villa Park, they'd be calling for the white coats if you accepted. Bite the bullet, start from scratch, give the kids a chance if they are up to it, or Randy, put your hand in your pocket and act like a true Premier club chairman.

As long as the board continue with only considering candidates with prem league epxerience our short list of realistic targets becomes even shorter... They are far too blinkered and have zero football knowledge between them. Along side a new manager the number 1 thing we need to do right now is get a new cheif exec and director of football who know the game inside out. If it is right at the top level if filters down through the whole club. Wrong at the top, as it is now, wrong throughout the whole club ..
