Alex - WHERE Is Your Dignity

Right, the final look at Alex`s comments from yesterday.

We`ve had: Alex Has NOT Taken The Weight This Season

And: Alex Knew We Were Bottom Table Material?

Now I`ll finish with the other quote that really got my goat. Not the one about planning to be here next season and looking at building on the squad, that just made me feel sick and gave me a cold sweat... this one:

'I'd expect to be here next season and hope to win over the dissenting Villa fans. But I need to get a consistent team on the pitch. I think the Villa fans in general have been excellent. I met some nice people at the dinner the other night. I felt the guys were genuine, they knew what I was working with."

So some fans have been genuine because they believe in him? They 'know what he is working with?`

I`ve done it before, so I`m not going to go all through our squad again. With proper management, we are NOT short of international players, we also have some great 'kids` some of whom have represented their countries at the different youth levels as well as having played under MON and Houllier.

mcleish and grant

Alex, you can`t win over the dissenting fans. The bile, the hatred, the outright abuse (which to be fair, I struggle with, hence if he stays next season, I might have to re-think going, I can`t take all this stress, negativity, nastiness and the bile and anger. I can understand it, but normal life is a struggle enough, this is meant to be the fun part. Trouble is, even as I type this, I know I`m not going to be able to just not go... what a mug... same as many who just can`t walk away!) .... it is just not healthy for a Club, not for the players, not for the manager and most especially not for us the fans.

Lets be honest, the forums, the pub discussions, the games have been a pure bloody misery this season. The anti-football and negativity was expected, we tried to rally but we got what Alex McLeish says on the tin, awful football and the finger of blame anywhere away from him.

The press still don`t get it, they think it is because he is a blue nose, it isn`t, it is because he wasn`t good enough for the Blues. If he`s not good enough for them, then how in the hell can he be good enough for a club our size?

You don`t win over the 'dissenting fans` (90% at least by the way) playing that sort of football, parking the bus at Spurs, not trying at Man Utd, waving the white flag v Liverpool, failing v teams we should beat in our sleep... etc etc) OR by producing the most embarrassing statistic of all, our all time worst ever home form.

How embarrassing.

And yet the 'genuine` fans understand Alex?

Do they?

Are we not genuine then? I`ve paid my money, I`ve gone down in all weathers, as have thousands of you. There are fans all over the world that tune into sites like this every day to talk about their love, their passion. Are they not genuine? Those left baffled on the long journeys home from away games after yet another no show, are they not genuine?

You`ve been working with international players, bright hopes and experience pro`s. THAT SIR is what you have been working with. You have left them devoid of confidence, without shape and totally fed up and embarrassed that they (and we the fans) have had to be looking at other Clubs results to keep us up.

I`ve had so many communications yesterday and today 'DO SOMETHING` to try to get this clown gone (and yes, that is the first time I`ve used a playground name I think!) but we the fans shouldn`t have to do anything. Nor should the board. Alex should have tendered his resignation.

Alex, for the third time, where is your dignity?

Problem is: do you go for dignity or do you go for 4m? Not so difficult when you look at it that way.

35 years of going down Villa Park and Ive vowed not to go again. Im done with it. There is a poisonous streak running throughout the whole club from the owner, the board, the manager, the players and the fans. Its an inconvenience to me now and I can be doing a lot of other things at weekends that I know I will get enjoyment from and where I am not treated as a voiceless number cash cow. Well done Randy et el, youve lost me for good. A word to the wise though - by all means get rid of AMc but be careful what you wish for with Randy we might just end up on the Coventry path.
Silent-Bob
he left his dignity where he left his attacking mentality.... in the bin
villa4life87
Good news is his hairline has receded a lot more since he has been here. At least we get the last laugh in the end.
lerneravfc
Silent bob. I sense it too and it stinks. Our club is rotting and the cancer is Lerner.
Stig
The man has no dignity or class. I will never set foot inside Villa Park again while he is the manager. Such a shame the club seem to value him more than they do any of us
www.McLeishOut.co.uk
Three excellent articles there JF. I can see your blood is starting the boil mate. Problem is, as Silent-Bob says, the poisonous streak is running through the club, starting at the top! We are on a slippery slope and yesterday just delayed the inevitable for one season.
Pride of Lions
Mcleish has never had any integrity, . Look at how he has behaved at his previous clubs. He'll be at VP next season for sure. Everyone who is not renewing or staying away must make sure the club the club knows why. Send in a letter explaining or the club will come up with some other excuse
AVbornandbred
I really don't understand our fans at all, I have supported and followed Villa for 40 years, when are we going to understand we are not a big club or a rich club or have any right to be successful any more, Oneil spent millions trying and failed, yes he failed we didn't win anything, now the
andy3221
I think he's been comfort eating aswell.
Lerneravfc
You know what? I have NEVER protested against a Manager of Aston Villa - not even when we had Puppets that kow-towed to Ellis - Turner, McNeil to name just two but for once in my life I have come close to start against this k n o b of a t o sser. I wanted to give him a fair go and stuck up for him much to being called names and a few other things but I think if he doe snot have the decency to apologise to the lifeblood of the club - US the loyal fans (and I mean each and everyone of us - attending and non-attending) or to resign then I will seriously think of what to do next . I never thought I would take up the mantle again like Fear Myself and the others did (HH2 and Fieldy and many more) but I am so close - but I think apathy has set thanks to this clown. We will be here long after HE is gone and Randy for that matter too.

I really don't understand our fans at all, I have supported and followed Villa for 40 years, when are we going to understand we are not a big club or a rich club or have any right to be successful any more, Oneil spent millions trying and failed, yes he failed we didn't win anything, now there are 10 teams with more money and better fans and better players, you all go on about bright future and our young players and we should play. Them , well we did and they are crap. It does not work, history means nothing in today's life we are no better than the WBA, or Everton etc, Sunderland and Newcastle have much better support and they don't have a great history and great young players. They have good support, I am afraid our winning days are over we don't have the money or enough support, only the real fans who love football and love Villa will be left to go and watch, there is no manager out there that could improve our play, I watched the last 3 games and we created loads of chances and didn't score typical same old villaeh, but I still go in the hope, as I said there is no manager out there that would take the job, I don't like McLeish, I didn't like O Neil, I thought he was an arrogant pig and I was proved right, I have not seen a good manager at Villa since Brian Little and John Gregory, at least Brian had a touch of class. But heyho aim fed up of people moaning, we do not have a good team end of argument, the players are rubbish, I cannot think of one good individual who has played consistently well for us , or if they have then they ruined it my been involved in barroom brawls etc. Of course I can hear you say Herd, Clark, Banan, but I am affraid they don't excite me at all, the most exciting team I have seen apart from City is Newcastle and that is what I would call a team, anyhow enough of my rant, I love the club, I can't see us improving whoever we get so we may as well wait until Christmas and see how it goes .
andy3221
These quotes alone are sackable offences as far as I'm concerned. To have the audacity to come out with this utter **** and accept absolutely NO responsibility for the season we've had is unforgiveable. I've always liked to think if I happened to meet McLeish I would be reasoned and mature, explain my issues with him in a patient manner. Now, and I'm not proud to admit this, he would simply get a torrent of abuse. Just a shame I'm never going to meet him so I can't let him know just how disgusted I am by everything about him. I am ashamed that AVFC has anything to do with this scumbag. GET OUT MCLEISH, YOU SHOULD BE CHARGED BY FIFA FOR BRINGING THE GAME INTO DISREPUTE AND NEVER BE ALLOWED TO WORK IN FOOTBALL IN ANY CAPACITY AGAIN.
lurman
andy since when do we expect success? We expect little things such as finishing in the top ten, not surviving on goal difference, we want decent football not the anti football crap he is giving us. Mcleish is a disgrace to football, he should not be allowed to manage a club again, i hope after Villa no team has to suffer this disgrace of a man, i hope he has an early retirement and spends his life working for his media friends, he will be ******** ***** at that aswell. So many teams have weaker squads than us and still perform well most weeks...The injury excuse being used by Mcleish, the media and some fans is bull*****, they need to take a look at themselves the absolute morons, we had a fit squad for half a season and was still 15th playing terrible football...It's just excuse after excuse, the man is a disgrace and needs to go, as far as im concerned i could not care less if i appear to be 'less of a fan', but Villa are dead to me if he is not gone in the summer.
P.Avfc
A stirring piece Cap'n. I sense your disappointment and sadness. I can still see David Platt roaring toward the Holte End. Great days and a great team. Some of these players though need to put their hands up and take it like men because they have let us down this season, big time. I can't believe how poor N'Zogbia has been. Fair enough, he played through the pain yesterday but he has cost us about 10 Million too much. Goodbye Heskey, Collins, Dunne, Zog, Hutton and Bent. Rubbish mate. There are some quality hungry players across the Europe who would better than that on half the money. If Nikita Jelavic is 7 Million then I am driving Bent to whoever wants to give us 12 Mill.
Villa_Grizzly
I tend to agree with some of the comments on here; if HE is still at the helm at the start of the season, that's it for me. I'll set foot in Villa Park the first game AFTER he's been sent packing.
juddy
i've been saying how arrogant he is all season. He knows 95% of us dont like him but he still claps the crowd each time he walks towards his dug put. Arrogance. His comments yesterday just summed up my whole mood. I go with my daughter and have been going for 15 years. I will not be going next season if he is in charge. I hear season ticket sales are dlown 60% on the same stage last season. Our manager is a cancer at every club he goes to. He goes or i stay away.
dumble6
Fear - totally misguided, ill educated, short sighted comments. It's not the manager, it's the players. Apart from Shay, Benty and Ireland they are just not good enough. MON managed to get less than average players playing like top six players. When he left they returned to their normal ability. Actually even under MON they played *****e, all the Eck haters conveniently forgot the 5-0 at Anfield and the 7-1 at Chelsea. Forget all this 'they are good players' crap they are not! Apart from the three above which of our team would play for Man Utd? Let Eck delve into the market, he actually has a great record of selling and buying.
PiperUK
By the way - I just want to repeat to all the so called fans who say they will not be going down VP again: "good ******** riddance!!" Proper fans will be there whoever is manager. I hear Albion are doing well, go and watch them instead. Meanwhile leave Aston Villa to the real fans, the fans who couldn't bear the thought of life without VP.
PiperUK
Thin after the Norwich game Randy has to act, we can't wait, set the wheels in motion, give time for someone to come in and work prior to next season, not wait to see 'how it goes' and then we have a mid season change. So Mr Lerner , dismiss McLeish now and see if you can get Rodgers from Swansea !!!!
Eddy1
LMAO @ "he wasn't good enough for Blues". HE WON THE ******** CARLING CUP!!!!!!
PiperUK
Haha @ PiperUK. AVFC PR dept plant? Either that or as deluded as McSurvivedbytheskinofhisteeth.
upthevilla
Piper I'd agree with some of what you say but as I said to wife at the Spuds game the way I look at it is, you cn have crap players with a great manager, great players with a crap manager but the one thing you can't get by with is a crap manager and crap players. Oh and please don't tell me Mcleish has a good transfer record Zigic, Davies, Ridgewell, Hutton, Nzogbia, ....He needs to go now along with half of the squad. The rebuilding job is going to be huge and Mcleish definitely isn't the man for the job.
AVbornandbred
Silent Bob sets it straight... the poison is leaking faster and getting in the cracks... negativity breeds quicker than rabbits...
leftfoot
Piper sorry mate, I used to at least respect your thoughts but you are either McLeish's misses or completely deluded. Fear I agree 100% mate and the words that come out of McLeish's mouth make me feel physically sick. I think he's a deadman walking, only a matter of days.
AdzVilla11
Good ******** riddance....nice. Piper, if you are the type of fan who would watch us under McLeish in the Tampax Unibond norther area division, playing dire football then good luck to you, but there's no need to jump up and down if a lot of us are not happy about the way things are. Just becuase you most likely have Aston Villa wallpaper in your bedroom, doesn't mean you can shout and scream about the rest of us.
juddy
Piper you live in a world of make believe if the club keep Mcleish and you have your way we will end up with attendances of 13000 which a club our size could not survive on,so pull your neck in we need every Villa fan going to Villa park we can get, yourself included have your difference of opinion by all means but remember when your thinking things through we have just endured the worst home record in Villas history,so getting rid of those who disagree with you if Mcleish stays wont be difficult getting them back without the club showing any ambition could be.
Merlin128777
Well said Juddy & Piper if you're such a masochist that you'll pay good money to watch the rubbish that's been served up this season next season then good luck to you . After 50+ years of watching the Villa when I could both home & away I swear I wont watch another game whilst McLeish is manager. I hope the real fan wont be lonely with only McLeish for company
