'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Alex Has NOT Taken The Weight This Season

Just one quote struck me yesterday and got me hot under the collar in the forum. I`ve tried all season to keep the language down by users and to talk about the points without the name calling etc.

If he stays next season, I`ll not bother.

His comments on the official site after the game were deluded and insulting.

The main one that tripped me was:

'I have taken a lot of weight on my shoulders this season. I was happy to take pressure off the players. I am not going to again next season though, they better get their fingers out.'

At NO point during any of his after match excuses, sorry, I meant interviews, did he do anything to take the blame away from the players, in fact when he wasn`t pointing his finger at lapses in defence, he was talking about missed chances or inexperienced players. He`s also - I hope they have noticed - pointed the finger to the board who have been brilliant with him, they backed him (against fans wishes) and gave him a shot at the big time. What has he done to repay them? Said the squad isn`t good enough, he hasn`t got the players etc.

Sorry, the season has been about the whole season, the games when he did have a full squad, not just since injuries.

Also... the injuries. Now some of it is just bad luck I`m sure, but is all of it? His team at Blues fell apart through injuries, now the Villa have fallen apart. A lot of them are niggling injuries and a few have actually been picked up in training. Coincidence? And are some of the players in a massive rush to get back into the thick of the action and be back in his firing line.

McLeish

So, his veiled threat to them will have done nothing at all to galvanise the dressing room, in fact, I`m sure (and I mean I AM SURE) that some of them are as fed up as most of us fans.

I wish, that just once, he`d held his hand up as the manager. Then again, when Blues were relegated he took none of the blame so can we really have expected him to have taken even a fraction of the blame for our worst home form EVER?

On that one statistic, he should be ashamed, contrite and should have tendered his resignation. Instead, he came out with the bravado and talk of next season. I`m disgusted and by the sounds of the songs and the strength of feeling in the forum, on facebook and twitter (etc) I know I`m not alone.

Alex, where is your dignity?

If my staff mess up in my business then the buck stops with me and the MD would have no hesitation in removing me . Yes life does not always go to plan but the blame game is for cowards who cannot confront their own shortcomings, and try and successfully rectify them....sorry Alex YOU have failed miserably pleaee leave along with the "pointy clueless muppet" and the others you brought with you.

Deluded as well as useless. He pointed the finger at someone after almost EVERY game and then has the gall to spout this nonsense ? Is he devious or just bloody thick ? So damn angry about this. The man has no shame. If he stays next season we'll go down for certain.
