Bent Progressing - Possibly In Time For Euro's

Sky Sports have an update on Darren Bent.

McLeish has admitted there is no chance that he will play for Villa again this season, however he apparently has a chance of making the Euro`s.

'The doc thinks he's got a chance for the Euros though, so he's talking about four or five weeks. He's running and he's working individually with the physios. I'm not sure if he's at the level of striking a ball yet, but he can't be far away from that now. The physios will still be working with him to get him back to his peak fitness again. We have to make sure he gets back good and proper.'

An on other injuries, James Collins looks set to miss the Spurs game with a groin strain.

This may be just a bit of paranoia brought on by recent events at Villa Park, but does this seem a more realistic version of the truth. Darren Bent IS actually fit to play but, as he is likely to be sold off at the first opportunity, they will not risk him playing for us again this season. They are allowing him extra time to be fully fit for the Euro's in the hope he is selected in the squad. He plays quite well in the opening couple of games in Rooney's absence and boosts his value to nearer his purchase price. Off he goes and he is replaced with another sub-standard player. THE JOYS OF SUPPORTING THE VILLA HEY?

Yes, best to keep him away from a Villa shirt until we have a real manager installed.

nothing against Bent, but I wouldnt consider him for the euros based on his length of time out and his inevitable lack of game opportunities between now and the start of the competition, but I do worry at the quality and number of genuine options in attack with so many that are either injured, suspended or simply not good enough

i hope we keep bent - and i hope we get a new manager that can bring some entertainment to villa

have to say, for some managers players play through injuries / rush back. Bent is happy to stay on the injured list and will be leaving in the summer unless we change manager. Always amazes me that other teams injured players turn up and lend support ours are never anywhere to be seen

Avbornandbred, I think it depends on the player, Bent has shown his card by going shopping when injured. Others like Dunne push to start as soon as there is half a chance they are fit despite wanting to play in the Euros.
