A trio of England cricket stars are calling on Aston Villa fans to 'sign for Stan' at Aston Villa's Premier League fixture against Spurs this weekend - and pledge support for the BBC WM Red Alert Appeal for Cure Leukaemia.
Warwickshire Director of Cricket Ashley Giles and coach Dougie Brown, both Cure Leukaemia patrons, were joined by Ian Bell, Chris Woakes and Jonathan Trott, Villa legend Ian Taylor and current star Barry Bannan to be the first to sign the Support Stan Wall, where fans can show their support for Villa captain Stiliyan Petrov, currently battling acute leukaemia.
The wall will then be open to the public at the Villa Academy building (next to the Villa Village complex) at Villa Park, to be signed before and after Sunday's home game, where fans can also sign up for the Cure Leukaemia 'Run For A Nurse' in Sutton Park on Sunday May 27.
Ian Bell said: 'As a Villa fan I want to see as many people as possible signing the wall and enrolling for the BBC WM Red Alert Run For A Nurse on May 27; we want to raise as much money as possible for the world class work at Cure Leukaemia right here in Birmingham and across the Midlands.'
Manager Tim Sherwood has spoken of his disappointment - and shouldered the blame - for today's one nil loss to Stoke City.
