It's Still In Our Hands

Alex McLeish has said Premiership survival remains in our hands following the draw against WBA today.

Speaking to the Official Site Eck said overall he was satisifed with the days achievement:

'A point is better than non and that was a tough game. It was never going to be easy and I thought the boys gave absolutely everything and we had chance - we just couldn't get it between the sticks. It's still in our hands and we have two games to go. If we can win those two games then that's six points. One of the players in our dressing room will get the goal that matters for us, I am positive of that.'

The game certainly had a few talking points, and McLeish was quick to praise Shay Given for his late heroics to secure us a point:

'He has made a name for himself making saves like that.'

McLeish also had praise for the returning Richard Dunne:

'Richard is a leader, he had a brilliant performance - he headed everything, he read the play, he calmed the players down - it was a real top performance.'

I think whilst everyone was pleased with the point - because it was at least something - we are still far from being a happy camp.

The Anti McLeish demo needs to be postponed - we need to be safe first. Tomorrows a big day...lets hope Chekski win...because is QPR then get nothing against Stoke either and we get at least a point off Spurs, then we are safe

We haven't taken 6 points in 2 consecutive games yet this season. We haven't even taken 6 points in a *month* since January. Yet magically we're going to do that to close the season?

********* bigolbeat and kefkat, the Mcleishout day should go ahead, not everyone is gonna join in but those who will are gonna try there hardest, im gonna make my voice heard...The players should grow some balls and just play and not use our protest as an excuse...Last home game and we are going to show that ***** what we think about him...It's okay saying the team needs our support but when it's given they play exactly the same anyway? ********* to it, they will be cheered, the boos will be at Mcleish. Cannot wait, finally get rid of my season ticket when it goes on the pitch.

It's very clear from recent comments that McLeish is gone at seasons end, waste of a season as we all knew he was the wrong man. I just can't wait to see who the new man is and we can all get behind him and be a united club once more. My money is on Martinez and I'd have Poyet as backup

Yeah bigolbear 'I' need to join the 'real world' do i? So me not being in the 'real world' consists of me being against Mcleish, and supporting a protest which i think is a worthy cause? The players have had support throughout the season, Home and Away and what have we had in return? Give me an example this year where us 'supporting' the squad has made them play better? I can't think of one so please enlighten me. And people like YOU are the reason we will go down, if you keep being a sheep and supporting everything bad at the club then we get in the mess we are in...Im the reason we will go down for trying to get rid of the dark cloud hanging over VP? The man who is poison to us? I and the rest are trying to do whats best for the club. The players can play as normal, they will have our support, not Mcleish, if they use that as an excuse for losing again then ***** the lot of them. If you think a few banners here and there, a couple of chants during the game and me disposing of my season ticket is going to affect the performance then you sir, need to get in the 'real world', the players themselves WILL be supported.

P.Avfc I have been for protests for a long time BUT i think for this 1 game against spurs we need to forget all negativity and save the protest for after the game! we need at least a point and for this game we need to forget McDip***** for this 1 game yell as loud as possible the whole game no matter how ***** they are and weather we win lose or draw THEN get rid of your season ticket and protest against our eckuse for a manager, personally I think his time is up anyway regardless of what happens but maybe not if we are relagated as R.L is such a genius he will probably think McLoser is the perfect man to get us promotion!

The protest must go on there is a way the Randy Lerner can save face by going in for Martinez now to come in at end of season he was his original target this way he can say he was my fist choice in the fist place. Martinez is better than Lambert in my eyes he has developed a lot this season as manager he is ready to be Villa manager. He regrets turning down the Villa interview him and Whelan have fallen out and his contract runs out this summer. Martinez and a director football like Houllier is what we need GET YOUR MAN THIS TIME LERNER GET MARTINEZ

I'm not sure how P.avfc views will send us down Bigolbear, maybe you can enlighten me to that one! what he does with HIS season ticket is down to him, unless of course you bought it for him, which I doubt, there is only one person to blame for this debacle and that is Lerner, he's done nothing right since MON left, and calling others Knobheads and such like when as you say we all need to be together smacks of double standards on your part, if you really want to save our great club then we all must stick together and make sure Mcleish is out by the end of this season.

I personally don't think there is need for the protest anymore. I think Lerner and Faulkner have received the message loud and clear and i believe eck will be gone come the end of the season. If we were safe I would support mcleish out day but we are not and we all need to be singing from the same sheet. So let's get behind them and hope future games at villa park will see better football and a better atmosphere.

point number 1 - At no time has Randy Lerner said Mcleish is going. point number 2 - At no time has Mcleish said he is going. point number 3. - People with contacts within the club claim an exit strategy is in place. - I hope your right or Villa Park will be a barren waistland next season lord knows how low the attendances will shrink.
