McLeish Given A Boost Ahead Of Baggies Clash

McLeish Given A Boost Ahead Of Baggies Clash

Alex McLeish believes the squad will be boosted by the fitness of James Collins, Richard Dunne and Gabby Agbonlahor.

Speaking to the Official Site ahead of the derby McLeish said all three were back in contention to start the game.

Dunne as we know has been out since February after suffering a broken collarbone, Gabby was restricted to the bench against Bolton because of a nagging shoulder issue and James Collins missed Bolton due to a groin injury.

'We're really hopeful James and Richard might make it this weekend. Richard has trained well and he feels good and we are thinking about starting him tomorrow. Gabby is near, he is another who is ready to start and believes he can. That is brilliant, it's fantastic commitment and we know these guys are there for the cause.'

Seems to be a lot of talk about commitment, fight, causes and the like recently...shame we haven't actually seen any of it in action for most of the season, because maybe then we wouldn't be in the bloody position to begin with.

Oh well, McLeish is happier that must count for something:

Sweet with Dunne and Collins on board we can go there and play them plus Clarke, Baker, Hutton, Warniock and Cuellar in the backline, Herd, Ireland and Bannan in the middle and big Heskey up front!! Dream team, should be able to scrap a point with 7 defenders hey Eck?

This will be one time I wont complain about parking the bus to get a point. Must be wary of the set pieces, Brunt's deliveries have caused mayhem in the past. About time we got one from a corner ourselves. Trying hard to be optimistic.........

lol BigFatRon, same as.. good news though, this won't be an easy game (have any of them been ?) if we win we're probably safe, if not the vultures will finish circling and start looking at the wine menu..

Have to agree with Madirish. I too would be happy to park a bus as long as it's a double decker! 0-0 would suite me fine actually. Still think 2 draws would see us ok.

Any chance Bent could make the bench vs Norwich? Even if he has no match fitness he must be an option if the ankle is strong enough?
