The Black Tie gala event on Thursday May 3 at The Belfry, Sutton Coldfield promises to be a delight for sports fans, whatever your team persuasion, with 'Merse' being joined alongside pals from his playing days.

Want to know the story about THAT 'beer guzzling' celebration, fancy knowing what his England and 'Boro pal Paul Gascoigne was really like, ever wondered what his favourite goal was?

Taylor has sold out. Was on Talksport earlier saying that Eck has had a tough time as he was never accepted because of where he came from. Sad that they've even bought our own out like Him, Andy Gray and Stan Collymore. WILL NO-ONE SPEAK THE ******** TRUTH???

i believe those that jumped on the lets hate the fella in the first couple of months without giving him a chance - probably didn't like where he came from, so that comments valid. But after the dross that has been served up for the past couple of months I have no idea how the media can still say that. Your man is and always will be a tosh manager. End of.

oh and it looks like a great night above :) wish I had the cash to spend on such things...

Look forward to seeing Merson on GSS talking about Villa -- 'I fear for em' Jeff, I really do'. I was reading about Petrov doing something for a Villa benovolent fund for ex-players even after his diagnosis. What a top man. One of the few. Sad that some (many?) ex- Villa players even need a 'benovolent fund'. There are so many terrific former footbalers fallen on hard times throughout the world and so many talentless wasters earning millions from the sport. the same is true of coaches and managers. Sometimes I wonder if it's all worth it.

Someone should infiltrate the event and grill Merson and Taylor, ask the real questions and demand real answers Paxman style. I see option A) includes menus. Am I then to presume B) and C) have none? Uh, burger and chips please?
