Heskey To Get Nod If Gabby's Not Fit

Alex McLeish has said that Emile Heskey will get the nod tonight if Gabby Agbonlahor hasn't recovered.

Speaking to the Official Site ahead of the match, McLeish explained that Heskey had an important role to play for us in our remaining games, and that he would be in the team if Gabby's shoulder hasn't recovered:

'It depends on Gabby, but Emile would come right into the thinking. He's admired by his team mates, they love him and love him playing in the team because they know he's going to work his socks off and create chances for them. He's capable of scoring as well when he's playing in his favourite position, Emile can definitely do a bit of damage in the opposition box.'

Now admittedly, plenty were reasonable impressed with his last performance, but it is difficult to read about Heskey and scoring in the same sentence.

McLeish goes on to add about Michael Owen's comments about playing alongside Emile, and he thinks that Andi Weimann can benefit from that:

'If Gabby doesn't make it then I'm sure Emile will impart that help that he gave to Michael Owen to young Andi Weimann.'

There's certainly a thread of sense in that, with Andi's movement it could be a similar sort of pairing and unfortunately Gabby has hardly been on fire recently so could that be an interesting option?

Or would more be worried that Weimann will learn how to fall on his backside?

I was only saying in a post earlier today that I feel if Heskey is up for it, and he gets a bit of service, young Weimann could benefit from his flick ons and general holding the ball up..... fingers crossed anyway.
