Worst EVER Home Record Looming For McLeish

Oh dear. Alex is currently presiding over our worst home record in Villa`s history, unless I`ve got my facts wrong - if so, feel free to let me know.

Having looked through the excellent it appears we need the last two home games v Bolton and Spurs to be wins in order to save us from this embarrassment.

We`ve won just four at home this season, drawing six and obviously losing the other seven.

Villa only have seven wins all season. We have 15 draws and 12 losses.

We are currently on 36 points. Our lowest ever in the PL was 42 points in 2004/2005 season.

One thing we`ve always 'clung onto` as a massively underachieving Club, is to at least be the best in the Midlands. We are currently 3rd best with Stoke and the Baggies hovering just above us on 42 points.

Want anymore depressing stats?

Here you go then...

Current form see`s us 19th and we have 1 win in 12 games (v Fulham). The last PL win before that was away to Wolves. We`ve not had back to back wins in the League even once this season.

Percentage wins 21% ... draws 44% ... losses 35%

Not at all a negative manager. Ouch.

with the predictor, IF we lose to Bolton on Tuesday, I have us down. If we win, we stay up.

Surely any businessman looks at that performance and realises its not good enough? Its actually business and not really football related.

I couldn't go to the game yesterday due to my mum's birthday, but my mate who I normally sit with said the Holte were chanting "Alex, Alex, you're a prat" during the 2nd half - anyone know if that's true?

With our style of play, I just cant see where the goals are going to come from to keep us up.

Just hope and pray we get one of those once in a while 'shock' results where we win, whether by good play or luck! Painful at the moment and to be fair, the goal Sunderland got yesterday should not have been ruled off side, so we get a slice of luck (due from MON I think) there!

Bristol: that's true. One point missed is that Randy is NOT a businessman - he is a lawyer, I believe, and there is a big difference in the thought processes of the two. It's probably the first time on PL history that we went into a campaign looking to hold on and not to win something. The more I see the more I am convinced that McLeish was told that his job this year was survival, nothing more, to see the club through a period of cost cutting. What was not thought about was the reaction such a policy would engender and it here that the board has come unstuck. You have to have ambition and a 'dream' to scrape by ain't a dream.

I think we will lose to Bolton, I know that's not very optimistic, but for me we have no midfield authority at all...and our form says we will struggle to beat anyone....if we take off our claret and blue tinted glasses...I can't see us winning another game...I really can't. I just hope I'm wrong....I was all for giving McLeish a chance and I think it would be wrong to sack him at this moment, but come the end of the season it's time for him to admit he's not good enough, for the good of the club.

Mmmmm ... if you take into account that the first two home wins were against teams in very poor form and are still relegation candidates, and that the last win was through a scrappy last minute winner, then it becomes even more depressing. I don't think there's barely been a game this season when there's been cause to be proud of the team's performance, the Chelsea away match (perhaps) aside. Sigh ... look at Newcastle!

We'll beat Bolton, then the protest can really start. This summer is such a massive crossroads for our clubs future over the next 3 years. This guy needs to go, he's cleaned up at this years crap stats awards and shold be sacked by default. Only a foolish chairman with more money than sense would keep him here.........shame we dont have one of them? Gulp

Obv we have been due a win since forever so based on our current form we will beat Bolton... if getting relegated was the only way to get rid of McLeish i still wudn want that... in many ways relegation would almost be good for the club - it was good for newcastle... they got rid of the over payed players and built a better team... if we went down i would only be worried about the financials because i think we would come straight back up... i dont any of the young players would leave and naturally we would still have gabby... sometimes you have to go backwards to go forwards and while i still think it might actually be good for the club i do not want it to happen!

Seems like it was just yesterday we were fighting for the title for a good three-quarters of the season and losing it in the last minute. Now it's a 50/50 chance feeling of staying up or going down. I don't care how close to the season end we are, keeping McLeish is the worst possible scenario.

We're lucky Fulham came back to beat Wigan yesterday. No matter what happens, and no matter what anyone wants to argue, McLeish has to take his share of the blame. Blame MON, blame Randy, blame waster players, the fact is McLeish has not done enough to motivate or to provide a tactically sound Villa team. He has to take responsibility for where we are, and Randy needs to see this and correct his earlier mistake of appointing him to begin with. Wake up Randy!

R.E the "Alex you're a Tw@t" chant. It started as "Martin you're a Tw@t" after Sunderland's goal was disallowed. It was as if people thought "hey, his is easy, why not sing his at Alex!?" I am amazed we've not heard anything similar directed at him before. It was for me the high light (it made me smile) of the day after what can only be described as another thrill-a-minute goal fest at Villa Park!! ;)

A draw with Bolton and I think we will stay up...Unfortunately that might cause a predictable defensive attitude which could cost us...I thought it was actually an improved performance V Sunderland..we WERE positive but lacked quality/confidence in the final third.. more likely to suceed 'going for it' rather than 'sitting back'

Will be a nerve jangling game for sure, for players and fans alike. Yes we will certainly stay up if we win. Yes we all feel we could likely go down if we lose - but a win at Albion would still be a bounce back possibility. I dread it coming to that With luck Bolton's nerves will get the better of them, and how lovely it would be if we could just get the breaks for once. A two goal cushion early on please. Carruthers should get a run out but won't, although have to admit at least Heskey led the line better in second half yesterday and certainly tried to do his best - they all need encouragement and support.

Stennycilla & krfeskivilla: You're both right, was better yesterday, though we seemed to lose some of the psoitivity in the second half. I still think we will get the points we need. I don't see Blackburn catching us - they need to catch up 6 points and only have 9 to play for, so that leaves us against the other 3 where we have at least a 3 point cushoin, including goal difference and a game over two of them. So yes we will remain in the PL. Some of the younger players are really stepping up to the plate: Herd, Lichaj, Baker and Weimann. No, its not great but lets get safe before looking ahead.

krfeskivilla drawing with bolton will not do we can still go down because they have some winnable games in hand. there the main team in the bottom 3 who can still drag us, Wigan or QPR into it we will need to beat Bolton or Westbrom. Wolves are gone and so is Blackburn unless they shock Spurs which i cannot see happening in truth. Wigan have some very winnable games in their favor all they need is one more win like us and they will be safe. Bolton are the only team left in the bottom 3 who can drag us, Wigan or QPR in it but I think Wigan will stay up they have shown great spirit under a more competent manager. Judging from the remaining fixtures and who we have as manager its really between us and QPR who can be dragged into it to go down. Its not a coincidence McLueless has been here before i really really fear for us its very dire. If it gets to it whether our absent owner and useless CEO do something about it i doubt it, with out all our collective pressure on them hopefully they will act.

Don't disagree with CDX actually - relegation would be a major wake-up call and most of the dead wood could do one. But the root of the problem is McLeish -whatever happens, he needs to go at the end of the season, and take his 'brand' of football with him. We are not too good to go down (famously coined when Forest were in the sh 1 t) but need a long hard look in the mirror and to see the back of many of the overpaid prima donnas who are currently passing themselves off as Aston Villa first team players.

I've been saying for ages, if we don't beat Bolton we are in serious bother. What may save us is QPR have Chelsea and Citeh away and may only get to 37 max, Blackburn have to play Wigan at home, Chelsea and Spurs away (Max 35??). Bolton hold the key at the moment, beat them get to 39 we will be clear of Blackburn and QPR, lose = relegation is too close for comfort.

lol @ pride - lets hope so!!! Ok, i've done a bit of digging myself. Here's my list of what records MCLOSER has already broken, and stands to break this season. 1) Longest ever premier league home winless streak (already broken) 2) zero, or lowest-ever goals from set-pieces (stands to break) 3) lowest ever points in premier league season (stands to break - 42 previously) 4) lowest ever 'goals for' in premier league season-stands to break (42 previously in 05-06 and 02/03 ssns) 5) lowest ever points at home in premier league season (stands to break) 6) First premier league season without back-to-back wins (stands to break). That's a few stats that don't include things like 7) worst ever fan happiness in premier league season, and 8) most ECKscuses in premier league post-match interviews!! Should we lose to Bolton tomorrow, we really are in some serious trouble. I think if we draw again, we'll just about scrape through, and a win will see us safe. Here's to next season and the end of this NIGHTMARE of a manager...

Not done the "double" on one side.. Not even Wolves. We deserve to go down but should stay up by default quite pssible with less points than Blues (39pts) got last season when they did get relegated. Worst Villa team since Mcneill. GT came in and ripped the squad up and rebuilt the club. Something similar needs to happen but this Villa board wants "continuity" with him. That is a disgrace and is the equivalent of Doug giving Mcneill another season all those years ago which would have probably resulted in us becoming like Sheffield Wednesday.
