Ex-Manager Blames Players.....New Story?

Ex-Manager Blames Players.....New Story?

Graham Taylor has taken time out from being chairman at Watford to do an interview for the BBC Sport website regarding our fortunes this season.

BBC Sport website

He discusses McLeish's predicament, the impact of losing Downing and Young and his own expectations of the club, as well as a few words on a certain umbrella-wielding manager considered before McLeish's appointment.

Is Taylor right in his judgement so far, or is it just another load of old Hutton to deflect the blows aimed at the manager?

Turnip is probably getting a kick back from deflecting anything from the Ginger one.

Talking out of his hole like everyone else. McLeish is to blame for how rubbish we are, and Lerner is to blame for hiring him.

Been waiting for this to come up, I have a tale about this prat that i'd like to share On one infamous day in his last spell in charge we was playing our neighbours and getting well and truly stuffed - and had 2 players sent of to boot. Obviously this didn't go down well with the Villa faithful, and there was a mini pitch invasion. I was in my ST seat in the lower trinity and walked out in disgust before the end (think it was after the 2nd sending off?) as I walked down the steps to the exit under the terracing in front of me was a scene of paramedics working on a guy who had obviously had a coronary (he didn't make it!) which made the whole situation worse for me, as that guy had left his family earlier on to go to a football match and they would never see him again! The day after I looked at the news to see what EXCUSE (we get a lot of that down the Villa) he would use to explain the display he had masterminded and fully expected him to apologise, instead he brushed aside the match and turned on the fans behaviour, saying "it's just a game of football, it isn't life and death!" I was so incensed that i drove down to the ITV studios at the back of broad st to have my say. Now i'm not saying that this guy who died whilst watching the match wasn't an incident waiting to happen, the fact that the teams performance was the trigger is apparent, but it could have been at any time really, i'm also not saying that GT knew about this incident and chose to ignore it - i'm reasonably sure he didn't know! why open your mouth and try to blame fans for your shortcomings? if football isn't life and death then why did that guy die? or Hillsborough? Bradford? Heysel? Why won't Morosini's family be welcoming home anymore - he only went to play football? why has the whole nation been praying for Muamba? Little tip i've learnt over the years Mr Taylor "open your mouth when you have something WORTH saying otherwise don't talk about things you know NOTHING about..........and you CERTAINLY know nothing about Villa fans and their acceptance of Alex Mcleish!

If you scroll down to the last few paragraphs he does have a dig at mcleish's tactics, so it's not all bad!

Taylor can get stuffed, he should worry about what Watford are doing and mind his own business.

Managers manage, players play. How well players play should have something to do with the aforesaid manager. Otherwise why have a manager at all? Why not just let them turn up and play with Doris picking the team? So on that basis if the players are not doing it its because there are issues with the management system. Its just like any business, if a manager cannot manage then the output of the team declines. A few bad games may be down to a player, ater that it is the guy who picks them that is to blame. Isn't it?

makes sense Gordonsleftboot if a player plays to the managers system and by doing so has a bad game who do you blame the buck stops with the manager for team tactics and with the chairman for picking the manager. At the moment Gabby looks lost is this from lack of effort or because hes not a winger.

It annoys me when people say we don't want him because he came from St. Andrews. Would Anfield protest if David Moyes was appointed manager, or White Hart Lane if Arsene Wenger moved there (both impossible, I know!!), I doubt it. For me it upset me because it showed a lack of ambition to appoint a manager who was relegated twice in 3 seasons. It looked to me that Lerner didn't care anymore. But he looks like he's here to stay, and we'd better get behind the team. Have to say, I thing GT right, some players have been very poor this season. UTV

Villa 4 life you've got to be joking right? What you're saying is basically "what we've seen this season is good enough for the villa, and so we might as well accept crap tactics, negative dour rubbish football, and eckscuses game after game" ?? At the moment probably 99% of the fanbase can see he has to go at the end of the season - i for one am hoping the board see that too. If not look at mcleish's records at villa - yes, i said that right, his records. 1) record longest ever home winless streak in the premier league. 2) possibly lowest-ever premier league points total, 3) possibly lowest-ever goals scored total in premier league. 4) fail to score a SINGLE corner all flaming season!!! No more ECKscuses - McRelegation OUT.
