I actually respect Sir Alex Ferguson and what he has done at Man Utd but sorry, shut up Alex.

Sir Chewalot told www.skysports.com that McLeish has handled his first season at Villa well and he hopes all will be well for HIM. Not for Villa. FOR HIM.

What about us fans who have paid money hand over fist to watch this vile football?

Lawro had it right re: negative football in his last two pre-match predictions but seems Sir Al and his pal are sticking together!

Ok, we had to sell a few. I agree. He KNEW that Ashley was going. Has he been unable to buy?

AS good as fergie is, he's bought some stinkers in his time. As bought players that were ****e at man u but went onto be great players - forlan anyone?

Its just a common pre-match manager comment... (I don't see any insult or anything out of order here) Most managers praise the oppositions manager or team before a match... its not insulting to us villa fans.. If fergie came out and said McCleish was ****, it would probably rile up the villa players and give them extra motivation... so he compliments McCleish..

No shock Fergie sticking up for one of his own flock. The really sad thing is the Villa board take his endorsement as gospel and this latest quote will probably make them even more determined to keep Big Eck! He may have the same Christian name guys but that is where the likeness ends! Fergie likes attacking football, Eck likes the opposite!

It's the equivalent of a girl you know asking what one of your mates is like, with the intention of deciding whether she will go out with him. You DON'T say "He has loads of one night stands, frequently passes out drunk then wets himself, and will probably sponge loads of money off you". You DO say "He is a top bloke!" Fergie will never bad mouth his friend, regardless of the drivel and tactical ineptitude all of his teams have served up over the years because... A) He is obligated out of loyalty to lie about him B) If he did he wouldn't be guaranteed another 6 points off Villa next year, and he wouldn't get to give McLeish any more of the 'special cuddles' he likes so much!

This is the stupid talk that got him the job. Now hold yours hands up if you have never got a job through someone putting in a word for you, because 6 out of 10 jobs come from word of mouth . I guess football is no different to the real world . Hence us all knowing someone who has got the job because of who they know not what they know.

Still dont understand why we took advice from him. Clearly he knows alot about football, tactics and how to build a club. But one thing he has never had to do is appoint a manager and its a bloody good job if Mcleish is the best he can pick! If you wish to give us some advice on how to blood youngsters, which players to sign and the tactics to use, by all means feel free. But advice on managers please keep them to yourself Fergie.
