Carlos Backs The Youngsters To Shine

Carlos Cuellar has become the latest senior to throw his support behind our emerging youngsters.

Speaking to the Official Site Cuellar said he'd been very impressed with the players who are making a name for themselves in our first team, and he believes that we can rely on them to help secure the points we need in our final games:

'Our young players have been very important this season. They give you freshness, I like their enthusiasm and their exuberance - it's not arrogance.'

One of the things Cuellar likes is that nobody has been in awe when they've stepped out onto the pitch, they've just got on with the job at hand.

'Sometimes players play with too much pressure, but the young lads just come in and play. They are doings so, so well. No one cares about age, all that matters is what you show on the pitch. I think our youngsters are showing they are ready.'

Maybe a few of them could've done with a slightly less rushed introduction, but sometimes there's nothing better than being thrown in at the deep end, and whilst mistakes are made, nobody looks too out of place and they are learning all the time and we should see the best of them next season with this experience under their belts.

As for the upcoming match, Cuellar adds:

'We deserved more from those games (Liverpool/Stoke)I felt because we performed well. We are going to play with full confidence this weekend, knowing we can beat them.'

I don't think many fans share Carlos' optimism - United Forum Thread

I agree with Carlos, however, we need a bit more experience to keep us out of the brown stuff I feel.
