McLeish Doesn't Believe In Relegation

Alex McLeish has said he doesn't believe that Villa will suffer relegation this season, but he appreciates that the media will talk about it.

Speaking to Sky Sports about the prospect of successive relegations, McLeish was adamant that he didn't believe it was a fate that would befall Villa:

'I don't believe it will happen. That is my school of thought. I know the media will bring it up, that's fine, I can handle that. It will maybe be on the tip of everyone's tongue, but it's not something I believe will happen. Every week will be a battle but we are only three points of West Brom and have a game in hand.'

McLeish adds that the players went through this last season so they know what is required to get us out of it, but to be frank some of the seniors could do with knowing they aren't too good or too big a name to go down given their performances so far this season.

hand to mouth calling

It's certainly in our hands, and I don't believe we will go down either, but we need to see continued improvement in the games to come and we need to start performing and winning games or we'll let the small safety net we have slip away.

And then it'll be anybodies guess.

Oh well, why not cheer yourself up and take a look at our Bumper Alex McLeish Thread.

The man's a grade A liar; says he'll drop players who can't defend corners - never happened. Said he doesn't tell players to not express themselves - clearly not the case. I'm going to assume in that case then that he DOES believe in relegation and is doing his best to make it happen...I genuinely can't believe a word this tool says.

Haha, this guy really is a muppet. Dangerous thinking, given recent form and recent history for McLeish. I still think you would have enough to survive this season, but if you don't get rid of this clown, next season might be a difficult one, never thought I would say this, but it is kind of sad to see Villa in this state.

Relegation isn't a tooth fairy Eck. It's a very real possibility. Some teams in the league this year have been atrocious and we may be very lucky because of that. We've just been awful, boring, negative and played about 30% of our possible standard. Eck is to blame, players haven't set the world alight but the management must take the main responsibility for that.

I don't get why he didn't show loyalty to the team he took down to be honest son-of-cher.

I'm, with Aspinall. Unless a new trillionaire arab owner takes over in summer and brings in a top class manager and players (no, I don't believe it either), we're tatered.

I bet he didn't believe that it would be, Opposition Set Pieces 20 - Villa Set Pieces 0 either. The fact that we have conceeded 20 goals from set pieces (13 of them corners) is justifiable evidence to sack him with any compensation. Unfortunately one of the reasons is that we have a goalkeeper who is a wonderful shot stopper, great on 1 on 1's, but who just doesn't command his box or his defence for set pieces. The fact is that most of the set piece goals have been scored from within the 6 yard box is proof of this. McMuppet is never going to drop the highest paid player at the club who only came because we were desperate and offered him a 5 year contract. Guzan has learnt from his weaknesses against Blackburn a couple of years ago (he proved this up at Stoke on Boxing Day) and should probably be in the team on merit. The travesty is after preparing him for years and getting him to a good level, we are going to lose him for nothing. Another almighty mess created by McMuppet. Thank God Poyet and Zola are replacing him at the end of the season (providing Brighton are not promoted).

McMuppet doesn't believe in relegation. Well I don't belive in Father Christmas, but every year he eats the biscuits, drinks the milk and Rudolph has a bite of the carrot . . . . . . . and my kids left home years ago!!!!!

I didnt want him - who did? - but i'm all for giving a man a chance, but he really has to go. Sadly that'll only happen if we go down ....dont want it to happen, but getting relegated was the best thing that ever happened to Newcastle United Cant believe we didnt try to get a Brendan Rogers type manager last summer but hey ho...I reckon even Houllier would have been ok this season, he would have got it right in the end By the way, McLeish isnt the only man to blame here - Martin O'Neill *****ed us over big time when he bled the bank dry and then chucked his toys out of the pram when he was asked where the return was before he got any more...beware Sunderland, he'll do the same to you
