Hutton & N'Zogbia Possibles For Liverpool

Alex McLeish has revealed that it's possible Alan Hutton and Charles N'Zogbia will be back in time for Liverpool, but Carlos and Clarkie are definitely ruled out.

Speaking to the Official Site ahead of the encounter, Alex explained that Alan Smith had been happy with Hutton's and N'Zogbia's progress this week, but that Carlos is likely to miss both the Liverpool and Stoke games with his thigh problem, and worst still, Ciaran Clark has suffered a setback in his recovery from a knee issue:

'It's a little bit of walking egg shells with a few of the lads. Charles and Alan have been working with Alan Smith, and as far as I can see Alan was very happy with their progress. They said they feel good, we hope that they could be available.'

If both don't make it in time for Liverpool, the hope is they will definitely be back in time for Stoke.

Lichaj deserves to start over Hutton. N'Zogbia? Bit weird that N'Zogbia is nearly ready to play when he was suppose to be out for 6 weeks, miracle or what...

Dam , I thought the headline meant they would leave for Liverpool
andy3221
leave nzog for monday no need to risk him at a game were gonna have no chance of winning
marshyboy87
No chance of winning Marshy? Yes were not the favourites but to say we have 'no chance' against lets face it a poor Liverpool side is harsh.
P.Avfc
P.Avfc, totally agree. Don't fancy a win but a point would be ok,Liverpool are *****e but not as bad as us in a odd way.The young ones may have the fight to just nick it,i wouldn't right us off totally on this one.

i can see villa getting a draw on saturday as i feel the team should the team that finished against chealsea and yes it was a young team but they have the hunger and want to be in the squad - Mr Eric Lichaj well deserves his spot at right back and albrighton can at least start with wiemann aswell. ok ok albrighton has not been in best of forms latly but i feel his dropping was needed for him to get back his usual self. fingers crossed that Nzog will be ok for this game but if he is going to be played he should come on near the end of the game just so he can get some match fitness as cannot really be risked. i think if we get a draw against liverscum and a win against stoke and then a win against bolton i feel that we would be safe - LETS ALL GET BEHIND VILLA FOR THE LAST FEW GAMES OF THE SEASON. i no there hasnt really been anything to sing about at VP but lets lift the team with our voice and be the 12th man like we used to be

P.Avfc - I wouldn't say they were poor. They was unlucky against Newcastle IMHO. They're creating chances, but they're not going in. Watch that change when we get there....sods law!
Pride of Lions
Is it my imagination or did I read somewhere that Mutton had played a few games here and there at CB? Certainly wouldn't entertain the idea of Lichaj being dropped if he Mutton is fit... with all due respect to young Nathan, we do need a bit more experience in the side.
Pride of Lions
Villa will be out of the game by H-T on Saturday, save any players until Monday - Baker should not be playing at this level and it will cost us every game.

forget mutton, get Eric in and see what he does, he's certainly proved he is capable....

Forget all the rubbish talk. Heard today that should Brighton fail to get promoted and providing Villa stay up, Poyet and Zola will be the new management team at Villa Park next season. Now that does excite me. Football men, with lots of contacts, whose teams play in the right way. Maybe the grass at Villa Park will see some of the ball next season. Hurrah. McMuppets on his bike.
voiceoftheholte
voth have you been on the hard stuff mate? Randy didn't bring Mcleish in only to sack him in the summer. Hate to burst your bubble but I can't see him going anywhere whether we stay up or not.
AVbornandbred
AVb&b if we go down, McMuppet is gone. If we stay up Season Card sales will do for him. Apparently staff are already in meltdown over results from a recent marketing exercise to determine potential renewals. The wheel is now turning and the financial implications of keeping him have shown to be far more expensive than getting rid of him. Despite the PR from the club to maintain some sort of unity until the end of the season, I think there is now a real understanding of exactly how much damage has been done. And about time.
