McLeish Focusing On 40 Points

McLeish Focusing On 40 Points

Alex McLeish has talked about shooting an Albatross and his desire to see Villa get to the 40 point mark.

Speaking to the E&S bemoaned our run of bad luck both on the pitch and with injuries, by saying:

'The Gods are conspiring against us a bit and I think I've shot an Albatross or something. It's a tough season and a tough challenge, but it's not over yet. We have to get to at least 40 points. We have been weakened by injuries, that does make your job much harder.'

Now there's no doubt injuries certainly haven't helped, but that doesn't excuse the performances or the decisions taken previously in the season when injuries weren't an issue.

It just seems like there's always something else to blame, young players, injuries, four forwards, blah blah blah.

McLeish may have some good news come the next match though, as it's possible that N'Zogbia, Cuellar or Clarkie may be fit enough to return to the line up, or be an additional more experienced option for the bench at least.

Even getting one back would be a boost.

This man is a prat. I can`t stand him.

The past couple of games we have, what's the Eck'scuse for the other 28?
03/04/2012 20:27:00
I fear it may be too little too late!! Just wish the big eck would Feck off!!!
03/04/2012 20:48:00
Given where we are a 40 point total is reailstic. I just hope that people don't use the injury and Stan's illness as an excuse for failing. We still have 11+ professionals and there are NO excuses. Time for the younger players to move on and take their chances.

To be fair to McLeish, we have had a LOT of injuries - but that is what you get in the modern Premiership with modern players - racehorses rather than shire horses. If the club is to survive - prosper - the entire management must take on board that fact. Injuries to key players are inevitable and must be taken into account during planning of squad purchases.

Don't give me that injury rubbish Eck, we have played 30 games and been complete and utter tripe in more than most of them even when we had all our players fit!! I wish Eck would just do the right thing and pack his bags, it's very sad that the only person that wants him is the one the counts the most Randy. As for the 40pts, I've been over and over it and the max I can see us getting is 38pts, if we stay up with that total its on the back of other teams doing worse than us, not us doing well. Liverpool are crap but I have a feeling they will give us a hiding this weekend. What else can we do to get Eck out?? Any American fans on here that can go protest outside his house?? He needs to realise what the hell he has done.

So lightning strikes twice in the same city with the same manager. At this point last year bloose had 34 points compared to our 33. We all know what happened. He's now blaming McGrath and albatross's for his negativeness in trying to scrounge a draw in every game. 3 points for a win Eck. We've drawn more than everyone else. You don't acheive things by trying to draw and settling for attempting to only acheive a third of the possible points going. Simple mathematics and Eck is more than old enough to have worked this out after countless failed attempts. Didn't have a clue about the numpty
03/04/2012 21:32:00
Before he came to us but the fans didn't need to do our homework on him. Randy CANNOT afford to overlook this sort of thing. He's supposed to be a top business man. Eck is not fit for purpose. How could he get away with portraying himself to be something that he's clearly useless at for so long and in the public limelight aswell???? Souness, Strachan, Barnes, O'Leary, potato head all look far better than him in hindsight. Randy and Faulkner aren't worthy.
03/04/2012 21:42:00
The only way he'll get 40 points this season is if he gets a nectar card!
