Just need to play him as a striker now eh?

Not ideal as Gabby is under enough pressure already, but who else is there to choose from? Really highlights the lack of leaders at Villa Park. We've lacked football 'winners' since Laursen, Barry, Milner etc. Goes to show what happens if you don't re-invest every season and buy crap squad players who don't care for the Villa cause.

I was thinking about this on Saturday. I think if it wasn't given to Gabby it would seem like a bit of a kick in the teeth to him as the longest serving player and as he had the arm band recently when Stan was injured. However I'd like to see Stephen Ireland given the arm band. Controversial maybe but I think it would cement a great turn around and have a really positive effect on him.

Would've given it to Shay Given, personally. Gabi is a loyal stalwart....and yet....he still comes across too much as 'Good Old Gabi...Nice Guy'. Good luck to him anyway, hope he proves his critics (including me) wrong.

I suppose it would of been a bit of a kick in the teeth if he hadn't of got it. Still it is quite an achievement for a player who hasn't scored since early November. Lets face it, he'd of been dropped at most other PL clubs. Ok, idiot has had him playing on the wing some times, but you don't have to play striker to score a goal.... ask Eric Lichaj.

Pride of Lions lets be honest he wouldn't get a game at most PL clubs these days

In your opinion! Which differs greatly from many, He's been injured, he's been 'allowed' to play before attaining match fitness, and played in the wrong position, my money is on him coming back stronger than ever, which he HAS managed to do in previous seasons. I couldn't be more pleased for the man, and he'll be proving his doubters wrong again.
