More on Stiliyan....

The Club have agreed they are more than happy to continue the 19th minute Show Your Support To Stan reminder on the video screens. Not sure whose idea it was originally but stand up and take a bow sir, you are a genius, such a lovely moment.

You can show your support, see: Click Here by buying one of these shirts:

The official site explains:

Villa fans can demonstrate their positivity towards skipper Stiliyan Petrov with our 'Support Stan' official t-shirts. The tops are now available from both our Villa Village and New Street stores for just £8. Petrov was this weekend diagnosed with acute leukaemia and started his battle with the disease on Monday in London, flanked by chairman Randy Lerner, chief executive Paul Faulkner and manager Alex McLeish.

The claret and blue army have been sending out their love and affection for the captain by taking to Twitter and Facebook as well as applauding the watching midfielder in the 19th minute of the Chelsea clash. Now provides another chance to herald our long-standing hero by wearing the shirt. They are the same as the tops worn by Villa players before the weekend clash. All profits will go to a leukaemia charity of Stiliyan's choice.

In February Vital Members were called upon to join our local leukaemia charity Cure Leukaemia (www.cureleukaemia.co.uk) for their launch of the Red Alert Appeal in conjunction with BBC Radio WM. The call was for people to go along to Victoria Square in Birmingham and dress up as a nurse in an attempt to break the world record – well, they were successful in their Guinness World Record Attempt and also launched their appeal which will fund haematology research nurses around the West Midlands. These nurses are vital to the delivery of new drugs and treatments coming through which are not yet available on the NHS. They are sometimes the only hope for those patients suffering with leukaemia who have exhausted the standard treatment options. The charity has been going since 2004 and is starting to see the effects the funding of a Haematology Research Nurse can bring. In some circumstances patients are being offered the opportunity to trial drugs with better side effects, new drugs that are treating patients to the point of extending life expectancy and in a few circumstances have got patients through to the point of being able to be well enough to be able to go through transplant – which is the most effective ways to treat and survive the disease. Cure Leukaemia is asking for Vital’s help again. On 27th May in Sutton Park they are holding a 5k fun run. You can walk, run, skip – whatever takes your fancy. They need 2,000 runners. It doesn’t cost much to enter and for the entry fee you get your medal, chocolate, water and a t shirt. Ideally they would love each runner to raise a minimum of £50 in sponsorship. From the event they will use the funds to recruit Haematology Research Nurses – the first one being placed at the Birmingham Children’s Hospital. For more information visit their run page www.cureleukaemia.co.uk/the-run.php
