Weimann: Right Behind Stan

Andi Weimann has said the entire camp is shocked and devastated by the news of Stiliyan Petrov's illness, but everybody is right behind our Captain as he starts his road to recovery.

Speaking to the Official Site Weimann said Stan had been a huge influence and inspiration for the youngsters at the club, and everybody has their fingers crossed that he can get back on the pitch as soon as possible.

Petrov in action

'Everyone at the club is devastated but we're all behind him. He's ready to fight it and hopefully he'll get through it. He came in before the game (Chelsea), that was brilliant from him. He's our role model and captain. He's the one you look up to, and he's a big character in the changing room.'

Weimann adds that most of the players only found out about the illness from news sources after they'd left training for the day, and it was as big a shock for them as it was for fans.

The 19th minute, of every game, home and away, until he beats this. Lets show him the Villa family looks after our own. He will not fight this battle alone.
