Tony Cascarino Feels Sorry For 'Numb' Villa Fans

Not a great deal of news about today.

Tony Cascarino has joined the list of pundits giving Villa a bit of a slating and saying that the fans are down and unhappy.

He told Talksport that he was at the Arsenal game and said Villa were 'awful` and that we never looked like scoring adding, "I was amazed how poor they were."

The former Villa striker noticed that Villa fans are simply 'numb` (good word for it I think, the team don`t turn up and have no fight, think Villa fans are simply stunned and embarrassed right now at the football ... 'football` on offer.

We don`t even try.

'They are just numb. They`re waiting for something to happen but the club is in limbo at the moment. The die-hard Villa fans are not happy with what`s happening."

He also says that he would be 'amazed` if the season ticket sales don`t reflect how awful we are.

"Sales will be well down if the fans aren`t looking forward to next season. But they`re dreading it."

Interesting article comment from a 'neutral` saying us fans are delusional ... ahem.

Deanovilla has just started a thread in the forum, think he speaks for at least 80% of the fans at the moment (which is a surprise to me as much as him, as usually he speaks total rubbish...!)

There is never a wrong time to do the right thing

Deano said:

Someone used this quote at work today and it got me thinking about the McLeish scenario.

Are you listening Randy? Stop putting off the inevitable, and do the right thing NOW!

I felt 'numb' myself when I had to watch Cascarino make a fool of himself in a Villa shirt many moons ago..he was hopeless !

"Villa fans waiting for something to happen"? Yeah, we're all waiting for McLeish to be sacked, simple as that. Yet throughout that whole interview and like every other opinion the pundits have to offer, I've never heard any talk about McLeish being let go, McLeish not being good enough, McLeish getting it wrong almost every week etc. etc. I think everyone is frightened of him.

most surprised Deano has made a decent point, maybe the Myans are right and 2012 is the end of the world!

Numb. That's an excellent word to describe fan feeling, but to be honest, i think most fans are past the 'numb' stage. I got past the numb stage when we played spurs away last year, and when i saw the team sheet. Since then, we've had shocking performances, awful surrenders, and i would say the best way to describe how i feel now is 'spitting feathers'!!

I have to say that Tony Cascarino's comments are usually off-target and aimed at getting him column inches. Regardless of whether he's right or wrong on this occasion, I don't feel he's very credible as a pundit.

McLEASH's team talk pre Chelsea- "Now then lads, Chelsea are an amazing side, so there's no hope you lot will ever be able to beat them. Just defend for your lives and hope for a 0-0 draw, or maybe a penalty. Right then, team selection - Emile, your our flair winger" McRELEGATIONS Eckscuses Post Chelsea - "Yes, i though that even though they had 30 shots and we only managed 1 when their player booted the ball into Heskeys butt which was saved, we were really unlucky to lose 6-0. Wiemann had that effort from the half way line which he really should have buried, and he's useless. Lichaj also failed the team by not marking both their forwards simultaniously. Also, there was a strong prevailing wind from the north which meant we lost"

Fair play to him for calling it how it is Bob. Would you rather he kissed the ginger backside and incorrectly slagged us fans off for not accepting the clueless one because he came from bloose?? right or wrong???? do you still want to give him time???

Numb is a good way of putting it. It's strange how much my approach to games has changed recently. I used to always be excited before a Villa game, I used to always be on edge throughout the whole game and my mood would be up and down, between pure happiness and anger/sadness, depending on how we were doing. But now i just sit watching (unless my eye catches something more interesting) and barely even react when we concede a goal, sometimes a little laugh and a bewildering smile even break out if we really are pathetically bad, as we often are. It's become expected that we'll concede, expected that we'll lose/or at best draw, expected that we'll play awful, boring football. It's sad really.

I agree with Cascarino. HOWEVER, I also felt NUMB at the end of the 89-90 season when we blew our title chances after paying big money for the wrong Millwall forward who proceeded to lolly-gag around Villa Park for a couple of seasons.... :)

This is hilarious....Fans moaning that the media are not recognising how bad it is at Villa and not backing the fans. So when we are finally agreed with, fans start slating the guy who has. Absolutely idiotic.

avfc84. Spot on. Cascarino has made valid comments. Lets not slag off the support that is gathering pace across the nation for just how bad McMuppet is. There are some heavyweight media friendly people who want to look after McMuppet, such as Fergietwit at Manure. McMuppet also hads friends in the media. We need as many people fighting our corner as possible. To ridicule Cas for speaking the truth is embarrassing. We should be applauding him.

lol, agree, he is talking the truth, or at least the truth as many of us see it but get criticised. I watched a show once on the season he was brought in and he actually set up a good few goals if my memory serves me right! I can never understand really why pundits get so badly slated by so many fans (of all teams) they are just giving an opinion and doing a job!
