Lichaj & Weimann Set For Chelsea Start?

Alex McLeish has said that Eric Lichaj and Andi Weimann are pushing hard in training for a start against Chelsea.

So it won't happen then baring a miracle or severe injuries, but I haven't done anything for a couple of days so let's go with it for a bit.

Speaking to the Official Site as the first team drop like flies, McLeish explained that he wouldn't hesitate to give Lichaj a starting berth against the Londoners, and of course we all know what Weimann is capable of.

With Stiliyan Petrov struggling with a fever, N'Zogbia in pretty Paris' with a knackered knee and Alan Hutton looking a serious doubt, the chances are we may get to see a few more fresh faces in the team.

Failing that or Heskey will be at centre half?!?

'Eric is proving to be a little bit of a warrior. We have been impressed with his application in training and in some of the reserve games recently he has been outstanding. There are no problems if we felt we had to play Eric.'

Lichaj isn't the only option at right back, with Chris Herd also coming into the equasion but it's likely he will continue in midfield.

'Chris Herd has played that position before too, although that would mean we would have to look at midfield. Andi Weimann is champing at the door too so there will be a lot of food for thought in terms of selection and what formation we go for. If Weimann comes in then perhaps we are looking at 442 or as close to that as possible.'

What's close to a 442, a 1-8-1-1??

I will re write the headline as issued by McMuppet after the Chelsea defeat. Weimann and Lichaj are inexperienced and I think they were at fault for todays defeat!!

voiceoftheholte, I think you're right. Either that or he'll bring Carruthers or Johnson on as a sub and blame them for being inexperienced and not winning us the game. He's an idiot. Just sack him for God sake!

He'll play the same team as he did at Arsenal, because he's useless and he's an idiot. That or, as has been said, will pick Lichaj and Weimann to use as scapegoats when we lose. But enough about McIdiot, I would really love to see both do well, and to see Andi bag a goal or two. He should start Gardner too.

There are no problems if we felt we had to play Eric. Thats so motivating! How about something positive like "Playing Eric would be a great option and something he deserves" Plonker.

I certainly wouldn't mind Lichaj starting, he looks a decent player. And has always looked more dependable when he's played than any of our regular starting defenders.

Could be a torrid time though for our FullBacks.....with Mata and probably Sturridge having a run at them.....ouch!

Whatever team is played Iam sure the tactics will be the same dont worry about attacking just keep the score down.

Wiemann had that effort from the half way line which he really should have buried, and he's useless. Lichaj also failed the team by not marking both their forwards simultaniously. I feel i'm the best manager going, and the team are letting me down. We'll win all our remaining games."
