Thumbs Down To Protest - Thumbs Up To Exit?

Thumbs Down To Protest - Thumbs Up To Exit?

Ok, the last poll, which has proved a bit of a talking point... Must admit, I`m sooooo tired of all this, what a shame the whole season is again focussed on an unpopular manager instead of football. Sad times! I think next time a manager is appointed, they should consult and find out what would make a website owners life the easiest, this appointment wasn`t one that would ever allow for a nice quiet life! LOL

More talk of protests pre-Chelsea, thoughts?

McLeishout guy sent in an article re: the poll:

Want him out but wont protest?
It is safe to say now that it is a very large majority of fans that want Alex McLeish sacked as manager. A number of fans are happy to moan and groan online but when it comes to taking part in any planned action to show their discontent they refuse to take part.

Why is that? Its all well and good us moaning on here, twitter and facebook but does that really grab the clubs attention, No!

We need a large, strong and vocal ANTI-MCLEISH presence at Villa Park on Saturday. The larger the number present at the protest, the more serious we will be taken.

People are worried about how they look if they attend a protest, why? It shows you care, have passion and still want to fight for the best interests of your club. The protest will be peaceful and non violent so what is the problem?

What else should we do, just sit back and do nothing and accept this and let it run on in to next season? Keep paying a small fortune to watch us go down?

I love this club and refuse to sit back idly and watch this manager destroy us. McLeishout thread: Click Here

An article on all this from regular contributor voiceoftheholte. I asked re: the name calling, as I`d rather the manager to be called his name (however, this isn`t the worst thing he has been called, some of it is way way too personal) I agreed to leave it as this but to just point out, I think the argument is far better made just calling him his name, McLeish... the rest is not needed and to me, lowers the debate... I digress:

Article Title is: Tips on how to protest peacefully

As the current poll shows, nearly 80% of users this site want McMuppet gone. However 50% are not keen on joining any pre match protests even though they want him out.

This begs the question - how are you going to get your voice heard?

However there are still a minority who want McMuppet to get more time. We are all entitled to our views and although I am massively against McMuppet, who is to say that the minority are not right?? Those against protesting pointed to low turnout numbers as evidence that people do not want McMuppet out. I would say I have never been to an anti fascist rally, doesn't make me a fascist. The protesters have stated that not once in his tenure have the fans sang his name as evidence that they have no support for him. I would also say that the away fans have nearly all sang for him to be sacked. It is as obvious as the nose on your face that McMuppet will never be accepted at the Villa.

I suggest that the fans who support McMuppet produce banners to show their support. I would also suggest that they start giving him some vocal support. It is no good saying he should have more time and then allowing the apathy of the remaining fans to scupper your faith in McMuppet. If you want McMuppet to stay, then grow a backbone. Lets see your support for the man. He must feel as thought the world is against him, so if you do support him then bloody well show it. If we do not see and hear your support for him then it must be assumed that you are against him.

To those who want McMuppet gone - immediately, if not sooner!!!! Then there are ways in which protests can harm the message. If when protesting you shout/sing abusive language, then it will get no coverage. TV and radio will turn off as soon as there is bad language. If you have banners or flags, then they must be hidden from the Support Prevention Officers (stewards) when entering the ground or they will be confiscated. When these flags are displayed in the ground if they have negative references to his nationality/hair colour/are abusive you are leaving yourself open to ejection and possibly criminal charges. The banners will get no press coverage (which the campaign needs) if they are abusive. I suggest writing to Randy to express your views. Alternatively just 'return to sender' any post you get from the club and write on it 'McLeish Out'. If the club send out 20,000 letters, even if just 10% are returned this will drive home the message.

The club are doing everything possible to stimulate ST demand. It begs the question why didn't they do this several years ago when we could have possibly got in excess of 30,000. Why do it now just because they know that ST uptake will probably fall below the 10,000 level? Other than protests, banners, ST boycotts, refusal to buy merchandise, returning of all club propaganda by post, are there any other peaceful and simple ways that as fans we can get the message out locally and nationally that we want McMuppet removed as soon as possible? Up the Villa.

McMuppet Out.

Sorry Fear ha. I am repulsed by the man. The thought of calling him McLei. . . . . . . . . . nah no good, cant do it . . . . .McMuppet by his normal name is never going to happen. He has been called worse. I hope his missus is a nightmare as well. When he goes home and shuts his front door on the world, I hope she is a right old dragon who gives him an earful all night long ha!!

0 Here is the link to the article on Teamtalk about how much he is paid in respect to capable, successful managers. Mediocrity pays well doesn't it??? That recommendation letter from Taggart at Man Utd must have been written on paper laced with LSD, or Randy must've been smoking some bad granola when the McLeish's wages were negotiated. You know where you can stick that letter don't you Randy???

Excellent article heavy D. Posts from fans of other teams realising the manager's complete non ability. Not only is he conning us by making out that he's a decent manager whilst lying at the same time. He's also ripping us off and one of the reasons that the wage bill has to be cut. No more mr. Nice guy in my opinion. He is due all the abuse that he gets. He's conned everyone the ****** ****** **********

So........ we want the turd gone, but we don't want to do anything to move things along?........ I honestly despair at these so called Villa supporters!!!!!!! Lets hope there are real supporters on other blogs who have the guts to stand up and be counted as there don't seem many here!!!!!

So people wan't him out but will do nothing about it? Seems about right...Sod it anyway, i'll be there, majority of the fans share the same lack of ambition as the manager and chairman so they deserve to go down with the club.

Think that a lot think that it will be an embarrassing turn out Pride. Personally, not been to VP this season and won't be going till IT has left so it's a long way for me to travel just for a protest which has been shouted down by the people who run this site who are so well respected, so think that most people on here will follow. As said though, it just seems like an excuse to moan and people being bitter that we're so awful at present rather than the main issue which is Eck and his playing style which I'm sure Randy and Paul didn't envisage although they should've done their homework better rather than watching the Carling cup final and listening to Fergie's drunken ramblings about one of his best mates from the homeland!!!!

So it would seem then that the 'Vital Villa' group are, in general, quite a realistic, trustful and patient people. What is going on at the club I love at the moment is just devastating. Have been a passionate supporter for many years and this year has been very hard to take. I have been a supporter of Randy since he has come in. But the gamble of champions league football, that he wanted some time back, didn't pay off. We spent so much money in the early O'Neill years, that champions league football was a necessity. O'Neill would have been great for us if we wanted to be an upper mid table team, like an everton or a stoke who are all great clubs, but we spent like a champions league team and under O'Neill champions league football was not possible. I saw this early days, I always loved Martin as a guy, and not only cos I'm Irish, but unfortunately he was given too long and he didn't have what it took to 'really' make it big. We could easily be ahead of spurs and the goons and even chelski now, if we had a manager who could take us there. The owner must obviously take some blame. He made the initial investment, but didn't take us that extra step. Clearly some bad hiring has taken place in Randy's tenure, with serious financial consequences. No matter how much money someone has, they generally don't like seeing it leave them. So Randy decided he wanted to make us profitabe again.....without champions league football. Imagine if we still had all the boys in midfield playing the big teams tonight!! I think Houllier could have been a good appointment for us, we could actually have seen good passing football from the home team at villa park on a consistent level. Unfortunately for all involved this also didn't work out. Then we hired you know who. Maybe he wasn't our first choice, but we still hired him. Villa's squad needs a serious shake up, and I'm sure the manager was told he needed to drop the wage bill significantly when he was appointed, but the players we have on high wages are still good premiership players who would be strongly sought after by other clubs. We have a great crop of young players who learn their trade at a top class academy. These guys need to learn how to play top class football. Because if they do, and they can take their winning mentality into our first team then who knows how great our club can be again. And soon. McLeish can't do this. I'll speak for the 99% and say we 'all' know this. It's time for Villa to be great again. We need rid of the players brought in by the previous management, which is not impossible. We need a management team capable of finding top class talent and convincing them to come in. This 'management' must develop our youth and give us fans what we want, good football. Our current setup at this level is not capable of doing so. Randy must decide if he still wants it too. He did when he first came, and I loved him for it after what we endured under our previous leadership. From the poll results, we as fans still trust our owner to make the right decisions. I too am of this opinion. I am an optimist, and feel strongly that the steps necessary for us to be great again will be taken, and soon we will see the homegrown talent take to Villa Park playing in a good team. It's time Randy to realise that for 'everyone' to be happy, including the owner, we need to see Villa develop into that great team again. The structures are almost all in place, but only you can take us there. We need you to find us a management team that will make us great again. I trust you will make the right decision. Either bring us there, or let someone else do it. Claret'n'Blue til I die.
