Nice interesting interview with Birmingham Mail reporter Mat Kendrick: Vital Villa Q&A: Mat Kendrick - Birmingham Mail

Wadey: To play or not to play, that was the question. It was a bit of a desperate week, as far as grist for the Villa mill was concerned, after Villa's home game against Bolton was postponed, because Fabrice Muamba had collapsed during their game with Spurs. This leaves Villa in the likely position, of entering the run-in, within a point or three of the relegation positions, and having to beat the likes of the Baggies, Sunderland and of course Bolton, under an increasing amount of pressure. As some have been saying for a while, Villa have been going through a period of stabilisation and WILL start to deal in the transfer market again. Aston Villa's 'Acorns Day' activities have raised over one hundred thousand pounds for the clubs' official charity. The initial aim was to hit the £50,000 (the amount required to run a hospice for one week) mark but thanks to club staff, fans and the players that target has been eclipsed.
Players donated a percentage of their match fee, and Shay Given donated his win bonus from the Fulham match, and following the days activities and the ebay auctions the total stood at £54,417,50. Full details: Villa Raise A Whopping £108,835 For Acorns
