Clark Back In Full Training Next Week

Alex McLeish has said he is hopeful that Ciaran Clark will resume full training next week.

Speaking to the Official Site McLeish said that Clark was recovering well from his damaged knee ligament injury, and that he had returned to ball work and light running already without any further ill effects after suffering an earlier setback.

If all goes well for the remainder of the week, McLeish is hopeful Ciaran will join the rest of the boys next week:

'He suffered a wee setback and I think next week it will be six weeks since he was injured. We felt it might be about four but the setback stretched it out a wee bit, but he is now running and kicking the ball. I would say in about a week's time we should be able to evaluate whether he comes back with the group.'

McLeish adds that Clarkie hasn't done any blocking work or anything too physical yet because his knee is still a bit sore.

Carlos Cuellar and Ciaran Clark. CC & CC. The future of our defence surely?

Everyone who follows Villa can see that should be our centre-back pairing for the next couple of seasons at least, they complement each other well and the right-foot/left-foot combo is a great benefit... which is precisely why McLeish will most likely stick Dunne straight back in there....probably still with his arm in a sling as well!
