Richard's Almost Dunne With Injury Frustration

Richard's Almost Dunne With Injury Frustration

Shay Given has said he is confident that Richard Dunne will be back fit and raring to go sooner rather than later as he recovers from a broken collarbone.

Speaking to the Official Site our goalkeeper said that Dunne was making good progress, and whilst he's still in a sling for the injury, he's just getting on with it.

'As far as I know he's doing ok. He's still in a sling, but it's going according to plan. You need to speak to the Doctor to get the latest, but Dunney seemed in good form when I spoke to him last week, he's just getting on with it like he normally does.'

Given adds that Dunne isn't one to really 'moan' about things and that he just gets his head down and gets on with it, so once he's able to get back on the training pitch properly it won't be long before he's match fit and ready to go.

Obviously with the summer tournament coming up - I forget what it is - Given wants his centre half pal back and ready for the Republic campaign, and it does look like Dunne could be in contention for the last couple of games we have this season but whether he goes straight back into the team or not remains to be seen with the form of Cuellar.

Oh, Shay also said he'd been into the training ground a couple of times but obviously can't do much, so he thinks he must be at home pulling his hair out...not sure why but I get a similar image of JF with tweezers.

I hope Dunne stays out until the end of the season as i think we defend better without him in the team than with IMO, Cueller and Collins have conceeded 1 in the last 3 i think plus we have clark so i hope he makes the euro's for ireland but we don't need him TBH and hopefully we can release him in the summer and replace him with a more consistant defender.

I would like him back for cover, in case of injuries. But you know Mcclueless would put him straight back in for Carlos.

Man of the match v Wolves. Seems more a vote for the best of the worst really doesn`t it?

Aston Villa:

Apologies for the title - I was looking for an inspirational Bruce quote. Unfortunately, the 'Bruce` I came up with was Forsyth rather than Steve.
