Aston Villa V Bolton Wanderers Postponed

Tuesday evenings Premier League match between Villa and Bolton has been postponed following the tragic events surrounding Wanderers midfielder Fabrice Muamba on Saturday.

23 year old Muamba, who has represented England at every youth level, collapsed on the pitch during Bolton`s game against Spurs. The match was abandoned as the horrific scenes were played out in front of visibly upset supporters and players alike, with paramedics battling to resuscitate the midfielder.

A statement on the Bolton Wanderers official website reads:

"Bolton Wanderers can confirm that Tuesday evening`s Barclays Premier League fixture has been postponed, following talks with Aston Villa and the Premier League.

The club would like to thank Aston Villa and the Premier League for their kind support and understanding at this time.

A new date for the fixture will be announced in due course."

The football world has united in it`s support for Muamba and his family, the latest showing of support being former Villa defender Gary Cahill revealing a shirt with "Pray 4 Muamba" printed on it after he scored in Chelsea`s FA Cup fixture.Lets just hope he pulls through.

not a nice thing to watch, hope he gets well soon
callum_ws
Yeah agree with callum, hang in their Fabrice
eltoro
All the best and get well soon.

For once an utterly justified re-arranged fixture. Hope he recovers well. From what I've been reading he rather breaks the mould of the spoilt brat footballer to boot. This sort of thing never seems to happen to the Joey Bartons of this world does it
revolutionatlast
Hope your back soon Fabrice, and revolutionatlast you shouldnt really wish players like joey barton should have had the heart attack instead, a very insensitive comment after recent events
Carew AV Legned
despite how bad you think of joey, and just a quick shout out to Cahill what a good man, true villa character
Carew AV Legned
Sorry, I just don't think this game should have been postponed. My hart goes out to Muamba but why postpone a second game. Many terrible injuries have taken place at games before now but to pospone a second game does not seem right.
Rightsofway
Rightsofway, it's only a football game at the end of the day, i wouldn't even go there mate, just leave it out.

rightofway.. ***** of? your one of those sick minded people.. i've heard worst.. but why wouldn't you agree with the game being called of? he almost died and still isn't exaclty 100% back!, the bolton players were devistated yesterday and wernt/wont be in the right frame of mind, this isn't the point.... but this game being called of is a good thing for villa too, game in hand for the future, get well soon Fabrice!

@rightsofway - it's not really fair to expect a team, who 3 days previously watched their teammate and no doubt friend, nearly die on the pitch, to play a game of football. he's still in intensive care and in a bad way. it's a very different situation to an injury, even a serious/career threatening one, Muamba nearly died, and certainly isn't out of the woods yet. he may never play football again. i think giving the players/staff/fans a few days to recover from the shock of it is the least we can do. here's hoping he makes a full recovery
callum_ws
Can't believe we're even debating it - of course it should be called off. No brainer.
YatesyVillan
It's bound to of affected this team mates too, so I'd imagine they'd be in no fit mental state to play while Fabrice is still critical. You could see their shock/concern/disbelief on their faces on the TV while it was happening.... specially Reo Choker. It is definately the right thing to do.
Pride of Lions
Anyone who thinks it should go ahead really needs to look into their life and find what is missing in their own life.shocking to even think about playing the game,it will be rearranged, what's the problem.
jasevilla
Get better Muamba!! Hope to see you back on the pitch one day soon!!
