'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Alan Hutt-On The Up?!

I, like any Villa fan with any functioning senses whatsoever, had not failed to notice that Alan Hutton began his career at Villa in quite stunningly inept fashion.

Slaughtered by fans and media, his tackling seemed late and dangerous and his forward play sloppy.

This has now given him a reputation as a complete waste of space, waste of money and waste of time.

`Hutton`

However, something strange happened, a few games back I noticed he wasn't playing quite so terribly. He wasn't playing great, but it was an improvement. This has at least been the case in the last few games and yet still fans have been critisising him heavily.

However, I've noticed a few other fans have started to point out he is improving.

I just want to make this case for him, so people can start to consider for themselves if it is really fair to say he is a awful signing, or whether he may prove us wrong.

Part of me wonders if he has improved from awful to merely not great, or if he is actually performing to a decent level? Can he get even better? Was he too eager to please at first and lunged in to try and impress? Perhaps he was trying too hard?

His commitment seems good and his performances have definitely improved and I just wanted to bring it to the attention of the wider public.

Long may it continue.

Good points well made. I remarked recently that he had improved was being let down by poor performaces in front of him. Not a world beater, but definitely not as bad as first impressions.

I agree, he's slowly getting better. His crossing is good, he's getting forward a lot more, he's not CONSTANTLY backing off the man he should be marking too. After his first 6 games, I would have game him a 2/10. Now? He's between a 6 and 7. Room for improvement, but he's getting there.

I'm sure there's a good player in there somewhere. Fair play to him for improving, I think we should get off his back a bit now, as long as he keeps it up.

Damn his eyes for improving!!! who am i going to berate now???
Kuffit
Definitely improving, I look forward to seeing more improvement : )

What's this!? We'll have no positivity here!! ;)

They say players need game time at the top level. Ireland and Hutton both improving on my book.

Not to be controversial but i would still have preferred luke young, having said that im happy hutton is slowly getting better

Bare in mind he hadn't played regular Prem football for nearly two years, it does take a while to get back into the swing of things, team lacks confidence too so he's been up against it.

It's not just Hutton that has improved either; Warnock has improved of late, as has Ireland, and with the King playing alongside him rather than Dunne, Ginge looks to be a better fit in defence now as well. Sadly, Gabby appears to be going in the opposite direction at the moment :(

Did you write this article purely so you could get that awful Pun in??
Calbeanie
Wonder if this improvement has anything to do with the centre of defence looking more solid given the current partnership. As I was astounded with how poor the guys form was when he joined us for 4 mill.

Hi all, this was my article, I'm glad to see (and surprised) that people seem to agree with the majority of it. I was pleased with the pun too!
