Russian Hitman Linked - AVFC Transfer Talk

A few blah blah blah`s (technical term for transfer gossip!) in the press over the last few days.

The Mirror have us in a battle with Fulham for 28-year-old striker Pavel Pogrebnyak.

Apparently McLeish has been after the Russian hit man (do I need to rephrase that so it doesn`t look like racial stereotyping?!) for 'several years`.

He will be available on a free.

Flipping Eck, we have quotes from the manager: "Fulham did well in January and brought Pavel Pogrebnyak into the set-up. He is a player who I`ve seen and have been in touch with his agent over the past few years trying to sign him, but the timing was just not quite right. I don`t want to be in the bad books with Fulham talking about their player. He`s a player I flirted with in the past, but I shouldn`t really be talking about someone else`s player."

He`s got five goals in four games at the Cottage and Fulham say they have first refusal on him.

Bugger!

Another in The Mirror says we are after Schalke midfielder Jermaine Jones. No further details.
