Russian Hitman Linked - AVFC Transfer Talk

Russian Hitman Linked - AVFC Transfer Talk

A few blah blah blah`s (technical term for transfer gossip!) in the press over the last few days.

The Mirror have us in a battle with Fulham for 28-year-old striker Pavel Pogrebnyak.

Apparently McLeish has been after the Russian hit man (do I need to rephrase that so it doesn`t look like racial stereotyping?!) for 'several years`.

He will be available on a free.

Flipping Eck, we have quotes from the manager: "Fulham did well in January and brought Pavel Pogrebnyak into the set-up. He is a player who I`ve seen and have been in touch with his agent over the past few years trying to sign him, but the timing was just not quite right. I don`t want to be in the bad books with Fulham talking about their player. He`s a player I flirted with in the past, but I shouldn`t really be talking about someone else`s player."

He`s got five goals in four games at the Cottage and Fulham say they have first refusal on him.

Bugger!

Another in The Mirror says we are after Schalke midfielder Jermaine Jones. No further details.

I may not be right, but how can they have 1st refusal on him if his contract expires with the club at the end of the season? Them deals are usually put in place when the player will still be in contract. The club would have no legal rights over the player and surely it would be the players choice who he talks to and who he wants to go to.

I agree calavfc. if he is in the last 6 months he can talk to anyone but i wonder if fulham have been clever and signed him on 6 months loan with an option of a further two and a half years that fulham can activate should all go well. if the player has already signed such a contract as part of the initial loan deal then yes they hold all the aces

Yep, could be a useful addition to the squad. I suppose Idiot sees him as an ideal replacement for Dunne.

So, the clueless one has flirted with this player before but never got him for whatever reason. Now he's a proven good player for Fulham and we just rob him. Do we want a rep like that?? Eck was after Nzogbia for years and now the player has got clinic depression of football after 6 months working with McNegativity. Does the Pog know what he's letting himself in for if he signs for us?? And after a 10 minute chat about him he says, "I shouldn`t really be talking about someone else`s player". Eck OFF
