Gabby To Get Back Amongst The Goals

Gabby Agbonlahor is hoping he can get himself on the scoresheet this weekend as he hopes it will send him on a roll.

Speaking to the Birmingham Mail Gabby said it was going to be nice to get back upfront properly after his spell on the wing, and the main aim of course is a goal and three points:

'If I can get one this weekend then it might be the start of something. At the start of the season goals weren't a problem but obviously when results aren't going your way things can change. Of course I'm glad to be back playing upfront, I am the one who wants to be scoring goals.'

Gabby knows big things are expected from him now he'll return to his natural position - well we hope, he could end up at right back with Hutton leading the line for all we know! - but he does say it's about time the seniors in the squad started to make things happen on the pitch and he thinks recently we've seen signs of that:

'People have said 'now you're back upfront you'll get all the goals' but it's not that simple and doesn't work like that. People have got to stand up and be counted and I think some of the players are doing that. Especially the seniors pros.'

So is Gabby aiming to be our top scorer this season?

'Can I finish top scorer? Who knows. Darren will probably be back for the last game and score a hattrick! We'll have to wait and see.'

Well if Benty can get a hattrick in his final game of the season that'll put him on 13 for the league campaign. Gabby is currently on 6 for the season, and I really don't think another 8 goals in the matches we have left is something he can't achieve - so it's in his hands, or well realistically, in his left and right foot and his head, and nobody would begrudge a winner deflecting in off his backside would they?

Can't see Gabby getting into double figures. He seems to be stuck on 6 for god knows how long, and being stuck "on the wing" is no excuse.... wingers are allowed to score you know.

Just looked up Gabby's stats - 54 goals in 215 games....that's 1 in 4 so if he keeps up his average he may get 3 more at most this season. Then again with our tactics he might not even get into the opposing half 3 times this season.

A least he'll have a chance playing up front and not left wing!! Bent & Gabby should have been played all season up front together, of course McJoke would never do that... far too attacking.
