Gabby Calls On Fans For Support

Gabby Agbonlahor has called on the fans to make the difference against Fulham, but he realises it's the players job to give us something to cheer about.

Speaking to the Official Site Gabby said the team need to show the fans that they are fighting for everything:

'Our home form has been disappointing, we know that. We need to go out there and start well and get the fans on our side. We need to show the fans that we are fighting for everything and we can get the result we need.'

Speaking more specifically about the fans, he added:

'The fans can make the difference, if they really get behind the team and the players it can give everyone a real life. They can be the 12th man. We need every single one of them to support us from now until the end of the season.

Now there is a part of this interview that hasn't been carried by the OS here.

'The fans are entitled to their opinions but the chairman has made a choice in bringing the manager here and everyone has got to get behind him. I think it affects the players otherwise, it does have an impact on the players and does affect them when fans are not backing the manager and not turning up in games.'

I think you would describe the reaction to those particular comments as split - Forum Thread

It seems the consensus is maybe the players should start performing for the manager, instead of asking the fans to blindly back him?

It's a disgrace that Lerner has made us feel this way, things need to change and fast.

Gabby speaking after the Wigan game about the McLeish boo boys: 'It doesn't affect us.' Gabby speaking just 11 days later: 'It does have an impact on the players.' Bit of a mistake by Villa's PR team? Or can Gabby not make his mind up? What a mess! The boo's won't stop unless McLeish goes on a BIG winning streak, but that's as likely as us signing Messi.

We'll always back the team, but Idiot?...... Forget it Gabby, concentrate on scoring a goal this year instead.

Take it up with Lerner Gabby, as you said he made the call so he's the one you should take it up with not the fans. You are a Villa legend mate but you can't enjoy playing left wing when you are a striker that loves playing through the middle can you!?! I bet deep down not. The fans won't back the boring negative rubbish Eck serves up and never will. He can't even say the right thing and how hard is that!?! Now it's got to the point where Eck can't even speak and the players are being told to come out and talk instead in his defense, LAME. I'd like to see what Ireland and NZgobia think of him? Sorry Gabby the fans will back the team when McJoke packs his bags, takes his negative tactics and motivational skills and goes back to Scotland, then when we get our club back we will cheer at the top of our lungs. This has gone on far to long when it should NEVER have happened, I will NEVER support Eck. Randy you are a big business man, time to stand up and show us what you are made of!! Be a man and right your wrong and you'll have all fans back on you side. McLeish OUT and NOW!!
