'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Myths & Blame - McLeish

Alex McLeish has accused the fans of believing in myths about our style of play, and moreover it's all the players fault.

Speaking to Talksport following the game, the interview was going perfectly as he said:

'We've certainly got the application from these guys, they are working their socks off to try and make the Villa fans happy.'

It then rapidly went downhill:

'I know it's a results business that we're in and that the biggest reason that there's a little bit of dissent, in terms of style of play and all that mythical stuff, is because we haven't had the results that Villa fans feel Aston Villa should get, and I'm totally with them on that. But believe me it's not style of play. We don't ask the players not to express themselves, but sometimes they don't bring everything to the park.'

He also babbles on about needing the fans to be the 12th man in our next few games. The 12th man isn't the problem, a fair few of the 11 on the pitch seem to be the issue and the management I have thought?

But what do I know, I haven't realised we've been playing brilliant football all season and nor that we've had four forwards on the pitch permanently either.

The man is a disgrace
www.McLeishOut.co.uk
how is it "mythical" we are awful under him!
www.McLeishOut.co.uk
so it's the fault of the a)fans b)players c)pitch (last week) d) the ancient greeks e)shay given - for not being another forward....the man(?) certainly knows more about football than any pundit or fan of the game as they tend to disagree, and yet, at the end of the season our chairman is going to give mr i haven't put a foot wrong money to go out and buy a new team.......i reckon he'll come back with 20 rothmans and a scratchcard!

Give the man a break, he's a great manager and the best Villa could have right now. Get over the Blues connection and support him and the team. Villa fans are deluded thinking they should be aiming higher. The only "myth" is that Villa are still a big club. Yours truly, the media and British football pundits.

What a shock he blames everyone but himself and his mythical tatics, I wonder is he so stupid he actually doesn't know what a myth is? does he think having 11 men behind the ball is possitive? maybe he is just one of those people that have a brain that everything means the opposite...thats the only eckcuse I will accept.
KerryVillian
the second half today was *****, utter *****.
Tr1dent
Steven Jay, I take it you are being ironic? Support the manager? You are joking aren't you? If not then your real surname must be McLeish... Shameful game, shameful owner, treble shameful manager. Clueless.
ljkal
I think he took one to many knocks to the head when he was playing.... COMPLETELY DELUDED

ljkal, I'm guessing you missed the last line then.
Stephen Jay Hawkings
Sorry Steven Jay, you were being ironic! My apologies!!!

SJH, the media to seem to be cottoning on that Lerner, PF and McDraw are doing a shocking job. See the Daily Mail article this week? The written media at least, there still seems to be far too much of the 'old ex-players network' for TV pundits to critisise him as they all know each other. Apart from the odd muppet, the fan sites are unequivically anti-McLeish. See the twitter rumour doing the rounds that he'd left last night? Wish it was true, but even then, Randy needs to step up to the plate, replace Fat Faulkner with a real football man, re-structure, and get a decent bloody manager at the helm who the players actually want to play for.

I actually thought we played very well first half, and I agree with eck that Robinson made 4 good saves. No mention of this anywhere... Just outpourings of the same shopping list of rants all aimed at one man who is single handedly responsible for a 2 yr demise?! Question, if he had one of Milner, Barry, downing or young... How many draws would have been wins. Instead he is now regularly fielding 2-3 young lads.
VillainYorks
Yorks, don't invite ridicule onto yourself like that!!! If Eck had Pele, Maradonna and Messi, he would play them all in defence and still play for the draw. You don't win games if you don't attack regardless of who is playing. Are you new to this game???
Villan444
Cause for major concern is, lerner may give this idiot money to stamp his own identity on the team. We will then struggle to stay in the championship !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
rawheadSD
Agree york we played well in the 1st half so use some common sense and ask yourself what happened in the 2nd? McIdiot gave his team talk and new tatics thats what happened! if you know anything about football you will see 1st half we closed higher up the pitch got players forward and passed it short and were patient, 2nd half complete opposite! sat deep hoofed it and invited blackburn onto us and this isn't the 1st time this season that it has happened, the players have shown this season they are capable of playing good football and being attacking but McClueless constantly FCKS it up with his negative SHT that he calls football!
KerryVillian
Kerry, I thought b'burns two subs changed the game and we had two reserves to bring on. I didn't think it was particularly anything inept of mcleish. Different how we all see things. I see avb has been sacked, Hughes and Jol struggling...it's ridiculous, the world has gone mad.
VillainYorks
One thing I will say about Idiot - he is level headed...... Because if he wasn't level headed and leaned his head to either side, all the sand would fall out onto the floor...........
Pride of Lions
Jol struggling? Why oh why was he not appointed Villa manager?
chris the villan
If the team have the application and are working their sox off and the fans are STILL turning up at Villa Park............Then where could the fault possably be ? Could it be the fault of Mickey Mouse McLeish I wonder ?! or maybe its the fault of the guy that mows the lawn
PussEKatt
Yorks, I agree, we did play well first half. In fact i watched the first half again as i was so pleased with our performance. I certainly agree that in the second half, the intro of Dunn and co changed the whole game around. From there on BB bossed the midfield and we were hard pressed to cope for the majority of the half. We resorted to hoof ball and scrambling around for possession and when we did get the ball back we squandered it in the main. Eck just couldn't adjust to the change in tactics. Neither could MON though, everyone MUST remember him being slated for having no plan B. Eck's plan B was too little and too late, and it cost us 2 points.
Charizma
What isnt funny is we are argueing over having a poor second half and good first half come on lads we were playing Blackburn for gods sake they have turned in more dross performances than us and we are supposed to be impressed with a good first half and a 1-1 draw ? and oh Mike Field just to mention he has played Heskey in midfield most of this season thats your fourth attacker lol
