This Four Forwards Defence

This Four Forwards Defence

Okay, I'm curious. It's not the first time Eck has spouted this claim, infact I think the last time he did was when he played Heskey in midfield...but let's look and see if it's accurate.

I'll leave you to work out where everybody played and whether or not each four forwards actually played upfront, I'm simply looking at numbers.

Blackburn - Gabby, Zoggy and Albie. Not four unless he thinks Ireland is a striker. It's not even four when Weimann got on the pitch, because he'd removed Zoggy and Albie by then meaning we ended the match with two forward players. Fail.

Wigan - Yes we had four. Albie, Gabby, Bent and Keane. Well done. The subs made no difference as we ended the game minus Albie and Bent, but he brought on Zoggy and Heskey. Ecky can celebrate if he thinks Ireland is a striker, because that makes five.

Man City - Albie, Heskey, Bent, Keane. Well done. Not so good on subs, Albie and Heskey off, only Zoggy on.

Newcastle - Zoggy, Bent, Keane. Four striker claim epic fail. Heskey did come on, but Zoggy went off.

QPR - Zoggy, Bent, Keane. Another fail.

Arsenal - Bent, Gabby, Keane. Another fail.

Wolves - Albie, Bent, Gabby, Keane. Well done, but failed on subs. Gabby and Keane off, only Weimann on. Must try harder.

Everton - Albie, Bent, Gabby. Fail, but redeemed himself with the 81st minute sub of Keane for Warnock.

Bristol Rovers - Albie, Bent, Heskey. Fail. No redeeming subs either, Gabby for Heskey. Major fail.

Swansea - Zoggy, Bent, Gabby. Another fail, but saved with the sub Albie for Clark.

Chelsea - Albie, Zoggy, Gabby. Major fail as sub Bent for Zoggy still leaves only three.

Stoke - Zoggy, Albie, Gabby, Heskey. Wayhey! Well done. Even the sub was good, Delfouneso for Heskey. Well done Eck.

Arsenal - Albie, Zoggy, Gabby. Sub fail Delfouneso for Albie. Back to normal FAIL.

Liverpool - Albie, Zoggy, Delfouneso, Heskey. Well done but you wobbled with the 56th min sub of Heskey, but redeemed it with the 80th min sub of Weimann.

Bolton - Albie, Zoggy, Bent, Gabby. Even the sub was good, Heskey for Bent. Well done.

Man U - Albie, Bent, Gabby. Fail, but redeemed with Heskey for Jenas.

Swansea - Zoggy, Bent, Heskey, Gabby. Started so brightly then sub of Jenas for Heskey ruined it.

Spurs - Bent, Gabby, Heskey. Epic fail, no subs.

Norwich - Zoggy, Heskey, Gabby, Bent. Great stuff until Jenas for Heskey.

Sunderland - Zoggy, Heskey, Bent, Gabby. Even the sub was good, Albie for Zoggy. Chalk another up for Eck's accuracy!

WBA - Zoggy, Gabby, Bent. Shame, but the subs levelled it up. Heskey for Zoggy, and Albie for Bannan.

Man C - Bent, Gabby, Heskey. Redeemed with the subs, Heskey off and Zoggy and Albie on.

Wigan - Gabby, Bent. Oh dear. Never fear the subs are here! Gabby and Bent off, Zoggy, Weimann and Heskey on. Oh no, maybe not then. Fail.

QPR - Zoggy, Gabby. Oh dear. Not even helped by the subs, Zoggy off, and Albie and Weimann on. Fail.

Bolton - Albie, Gabby, Delfouneso. Another fail, with Zoggy on for Albie.

Newcastle - Zoggy, Bent, Gabby. Saved by the subs. Bent off, Albie and Delboy on. He just squeezed that one!

Everton - Zoggy, Bent, Heskey, Gabby. Wayhey! Shame on the subs though. Bannan for Heskey on 17 minutes and then Albie for Zoggy couldn't save it. I don't think 17 minutes counts.

Wolves - Zoggy, Bent, Heskey, Gabby. Albie for Zoggy chalks up a win for Eck!

Hereford - Albie, Zoggy, Bent. Not even the subs save him here, Delboy and Weimann on, Zoggy and Bent off. Bad luck Eck!

Blackburn - Zoggy, Gabby, Heskey. Fail, and subs compound the fail with Gabby and Heskey going off and only Albie coming on.

Fulham - Zoggy, Heskey, Bent, Gabby. Albie for Zoggy - a win for Eck!

So out of 31 games:

Started with four players - 12 games.
Finished with four players - 13 games.

Start/Finish Fails - 13 games.

I'm not sure those numbers mean the claim 'we've played with four forwards all season' can be deemed as accurate really.

Then again Gabby was never going to be played on the wing so accuracy doesn't appear to be a strong point, especially when you consider the games he thought we've played well in.

And to think, I started looking at this expecting him to be right at least half of the time. His best attempt is finishing games with four forwards but 13 successes out of 31 attempts is hardly inspiring.

Once again he's proven to be an idiot. We've now faced the two worst clubs in this league and failed to beat either. Can we please sack him now? It's really getting stupid!

Although I think some people need to relax a bit and take a back seat on it all instead of looking for a misake or a decision to allow them to jump on him, some of the things said etc. do remind me of the DOL reign where no matter what he did or said he was derided by his own fans even when if you stripped it down what he was actualy saying wasnt too far from the truth or acurate but the fans just went for him.

he may play 4 forwards, but he puts 3 of them in a 5 man defensive midfield. he talks as if he plays 4 men up front.

It doesn't matter how many forwards there are, he sounds like a 12y.o who's just got Championship Manager. Which coincidentally is what he's gonna be next season at this rate.

Whats a matter pauled177, how about Albright's? anyway Mcleish is just desperatly clutching at straws as this proves, its all well having 4 forwards on the pitch but actually having them play upfront or attacking in the opponents half is another matter, look at the second half? where was these 4 forwards then?

4 forwards? well in the 1st half he could say we had players forward but in the 2nd only Gabby was FORWARD all the rest sat on the edge of our own box and even Gabby was defending more than attacking! and whvilla there is a lot he can do to stop getting stick from fans 1 LEARN HOW TO MANAGE A PREM TEAM, 2 LEARN HOW TO FINISH A GAME OFF 3 STOP BLAMING PLAYERS FOR HIS STUPIDITY, 4 LEARN THAT PLAYING 4 FORWARDS MIGHT WORK IF THEY ARE ALLOWED TO GO FORWARD, 5 STOP SAYING HE IS NOT A NEGATIVE MANAGER WHEN CLEARLY HE IS, 6 START WINNING GAMES, 7 STOP TALKING TO THE MEDIA CAUSE EVERY TIME HE JUST *****ES ME OFF, 8 DON'T EVER PLAY HESKEY AGAIN, 9 STOP THINKING 1-0 IS GOOD ENOUGH TO WIN A GAME and 10 GET THE FCK OUT OF OUR CLUB YOU FCKING MORON!
