Player Boost Ahead Of Blackburn For Eck

Player Boost Ahead Of Blackburn For Eck

Alex McLeish is confident that Stiliyan Petrov, James Collins and Alan Hutton will be fit and raring to go against Blackburn this weekend.

Speaking to the Official Site McLeish explained that Petrov had returned to full training today and that he expects Collins and Hutton to join the lads on Friday:

'Stiliyan trained this morning, he looked well and looked absolutely fine. James withdrew from the Wales squad but stayed in memory of Gary Speed, he's back now and we're hopeful he can make it. Alan came back with tightness at the top of his hamstring, but again we're confident he will make it. Neither trained today, but we're looking for them to be back when we get together tomorrow.'

Looks like Eck won't have a selection headache and be forced to pick players who could be in some kind of form in defence then. Oh well.

In other news, Chris Herd has come through a week of training with no ill effects from his ankle injury, so he's well placed to step into Hutton's shoes (along with Lichaj) should the need arise.

However still on the treatment table are (obviously) Darren Bent, Richard Dunne, whilst Fabian Delph and Ciaren Clark still haven't recovered either.

Nathan Delfouneso is available for the game after completing his loan spell at Leicester.

How can Hutton's return to action, concievably be called a 'boost'? He and Warnock are possibly the league's worst full-backs and are liabilities to us each time they pull on the claret n blue.

Glad to see Petrov back. And that is all.

I agree with you STG. Suppose we do need Collins with Dunne and Clark both out though.

Good, less excuses and more options. Like it.
