Weimann To Step Up

Alex McLeish has tipped Andy Weimann to step up to the plate following the injury to Darren Bent.

Weimann has received glowing praise recently from Bent for his finishing prowess and following his two recent hatticks in the second string McLeish has told the Official Site that Andy has been 'knocking on the door' of the first team for quite a while, and this could be his chance to impress.

I wonder where, on the right wing? We can put N'Zogbia through the middle that way!

'Andreas has definitely been knocking on the door. He's hungry, wants to score, has a great attitude and he's got clever movement. Is he lightning fast? Maybe that's not his strength, but certainly he's got that sharpness, he's a sharp thinker. I think he will have a good career and hopefully he can light up Villa Park.'

If Andy gets his chance we certainly need him to take it, but given he is the back up along with Delfouneso this is where it would've been sensible to have brought them on as a sub during games to bring them on further, rather than leaving it to the last moment where they can't afford to sink in games.

Good luck Andy.

That said, does anybody not expect Gabby to stay on the wing and Heskey to go through the middle as our goal threat?

Heskey & 'goal threat'... A word and a term only allowed to co-exist in the same sentence as a joke.

If Wee-man plays, it would most likely have to be in a 4-4-2. I think Eck would prefer to partner him with heskey and keep gabby on the wing (which would make more sense to me). Personally i'd like to see us keep a 4-5-1, with gabby up top and charles on the left.

I would prefer to partner Heskey with Beye at doncaster.

AMc makes him sound way too good to be selected, doesn't he?
Winsforvilla
He's a striker, and therefore comes under the category 'attacking'. Clearly this makes him redundant under McLoser

I think Weimann could play up front on his own but it is a massive ask in a struggling team at a crucial part of the season. Personally, I would stick with 4-2-3-1.. Given...Hutton or Lichaj,Collins, Cuellar, Warnock or Lichaj... Petrov, Gardner or Herd... Albrighton, Ireland, N'Zogbia..Agbonlanor....IF we did go 4-4-2 then I guess Heskey would play with either Gabby or Weimann as a partner...Wafer thin squad is stretched to the limit..IF we have no more injuries we might be ok, but we are only one more injury to either Collins, Cuellar, Petrov or Agbonlahor away from disaster...On a more positive note, Weimann and Burke have been goal machines for the reserves, but were unavailable last night because of International duty. In steps England U17 striker, Callum Robinson, and nets a couple in a convincing win at Swansea. I read a report from a local Welsh newspaper which was waxing lyrical about the quality of our young side.

Merlin, what an eminently sensible suggestion, lets hope Eck reads this website!!! Seriously though, i would like to keep Zoggy on the left and Gabby through the middle with Weimann supporting. Albie on the right ofc.

The thought of Heskey teaming up with Beye at Doncaster is a very enlightening thought Merlin. It certainly makes sense for Weimann and Gabby to play together up front...... you know it makes sense, so it probably won't happen. This time last week Idiot was praising Zoggy - what does he do?, not select him! Bloody Idiot.
Pride of Lions
Gabby and Weimann upfront and Heskey put out to pasture.
Stephen Jay Hawkings
He's all wind he will play Gabby and Heskey
