Alex Vows To Win Us Over

Alex Vows To Win Us Over

Well give the man credit, he's determined.

Alex McLeish has taken to the Official Site to promise that he will turn fan jeers into cheers.

Bold promise given the season we've had so far, but again for all his mistakes and errors and nonsense, it's not him missing easy chances, it's not him going to sleep in defence, it's not him hoofing the ball 80 yards or being unable to pass 5...but I think that's about as far as you can defend him.

It's his choice to keep picking them.

'I'm delighted to be here and I'm confident I can get the Villa fans cheering instead of jeering. To be fair the Villa fans they've been fantastic on their travels, so I can't start criticising them for one particular game. We have a huge challenge ahead of us. We've spoken to the players, we've said we've all got to be together and there's got to be a bit of a siege mentality.'

Alex continues to find excuses for the performances and the results, and to be fair it's his biggest problem. Yes a good manager takes the heat off their players when it's necessary, but a good manager also lets a player take his beating at points to see how they react...he makes our players blameless in public (apart from when he picks on them directly) and it seems there are no consequences for performances.

'We've worked our socks off, we've got two young kids in that midfield, Stan's out, Gabby's just back after four weeks absense, Albrighton's just had the baby this week...'

Congrats Marc!

'...and we've had other players out for even longer. Herd's just come back afer three or four months and he's just broken into the team this season. So there's got to be a wee bit of patience.'

Yes Alex, it was a young midfield. But you got rid of Makoun. You chose to leave Ireland on the bench.

It's not always black and white.

Anyway, enough of that or I'll start repeating myself, in the same interview he talks about handing Gabby the armband which is something we can all applaud:

'I thought I'd give it to the guy who is the longest serving experienced player like they do on the continent and Gabby was thrilled to get it. It was great. I didn't think he could play the whole game, I said you might have to pass the armband on during the game.'

Ohhhhh Alex, why do you have to add that extra sentance?

He's staying as manager for the next game? Oh God! Congratulations to Blackburn Rovers in advanced on their 0-0 draw. (That is if they don't score from a set-piece). Sack him! Sack him now!!

The only way he's going to win me over is if he changes his footballing philosophy and stops making bizarre substitutions (ie, Heskey on Sat). Quite simple really. Or he could probably win over every Villa fan by resigning.

I am assuming whatever happens Heskey will play so with Bent injured put him up front with gabby its called 442 for those of you who think I have lost my mind, the way I see it hes going to play him anyway and unlike Benty,Gabby knows what to expect when Heskey shoots e.g. make for the corner flag. Bring back stan alongside Gardner in midfield put zoggie on the left Ireland on the right and for once let them attack. With any luck weimann can come on as sub for Heskey second half. I regret I am not a fan of Bannan with other options available. I am also kidding myself he will let them attack.

Spot on Merlin. Just think that the Blackburn game will be one of the worst games ever seen in the prem as they are almost as negative as us. Guess who's last on MOTD next week. Fair play to Gabby though, well deserved and a true Villan.

We have 2 kids in midfield because the Idiot has upset Zoggy and Ireland - so he's fallen out with them. Hence, we didn't win on Saturday!

Sorry Merlin, not quite spot on. We don't need or want Heskey anywhere near the pitch on Saturday thank you. We need Weimannng Gabby up front to stand a chance. Needless to say, Idiot will have Heskey playing somewhere at some time...........

Have to agree with Merlin Heskey is the 1st name on the team sheet it looks like so if he is determined to play the idiot it might as well be in a 442 with Heskey up front so he can do the only thing he can do and get his head on the ball cause we all know we will be playing long ball crap! he will be better than Bent at it anyway, but ECK will never win me over he simply isnt a good manager!

I think McLeish should be paid based on his popularity that would sort everything out...
