Darren Bent Scan On Monday

Darren Bent Scan On Monday

Just a quick update.

The Official Site says that England and Villa striker Darren Bent will have a scan on monday to determine how serious the ankle injury he picked up at Wigan is.

McLeish said: 'He was in a bit of agony in the dressing room. From his reaction it seemed serious. He went over on his ankle. It's now whether it's ligament damage, usually it's ligaments that are affected in situations like that. You never know - it could settle down in the 24-48 hours before the scan."

Fingers crossed. He did look in a bad way on the pitch, would be gutted for him if he is out for a long period as it will affect any chance he has in the Euro`s and obviously, will impact on us as well.

McLeish confirmed Bent will be out of the England squad to face Holland.

Vital Boxing - Bellew Wants Lebedev Next

I think it is the last we will see of Bent. IMO he has had enough of McLeish's style of play which provideds him with little or no scoring oppotunities and the last thing he wants is to be part of that failure. So even if it isnt that bad I suspect he will drag it out. And I for one will dont care. He is never going to score in the current set up. Maybe now McLeish will have to play Gabby as a sole striker with Ireland behind him. Although we all know this wont happen and Heskey will be called upon!! Thank goodness that the teams below are just as bad. It would only take 2 or 3 of them to go on a run ........

Agree with herts. We played better when Bent was injured around Christmas anyway. He can only finish which is pointless if there's nothing to finish. Perhaps we'll play someone with more than 1 attribute in his place. That's not fellow 1 trick ponies, Hollywood ball Bannan or flick-on Heskey though.

Although i do possibly agree with you villan444 , I just cant. Bent is a player that could go in to any top 6 side and improve them. Eck plays him as a target man and that is just wrong ! Bent is willing to do that role which i quite admire really. he don't moan to the papers or twitter. He just carries on . We will miss him massively if he is out for a long time. Mcmuppet needs to go !

I do agree with what you're saying about Bent Jasper but for me a striker has to do much more than be able to finish. Watching Van Persie today, he has everything. Bent should've worked on the other areas of his game years ago. He's not even a typical number 9 as he isn't that good in the air or outside the 6 yard box. IMHO, a player who does everything better than averagely should get into the team over 1 that is exceptional at one thing which isn't really needed in our formation or tactics ( if you can call them tactics!!!)

Bent is brilliant if he is surrounded by a good team and good attacking players. He started getting goals when he was surrounded by Ireland, N'Zogbia and Keane but now that keane has gone and the other 2 are out of favour bent is wasted so I think we will be better playing gabby up top who plays the lone striker role well and offers a lot more. Just praying he doesn't play Emule up front ....

Cant believe people dont rate Bent the first proper goalscorer we have had since Dean Saunders and possibly Dwight Yorke. The man is a player who will always get goals so long as that ball is put in the 18 yard area. Ian Wright, Gary Lineker and Robbie Fowler were all players that didn't do much else in build up play but they did the hardest thing in the game and thats putting the ball in the net just like Benty. All those mentioned Dazza except lineker can run with the ball and had either pace or tricks. Lineker is very similar but could hit a strike from anywhere in the box and was good in the air. Bent is average at 1 on 1s and beyond the penalty spot.

IMHO, to stand a chance of winning at Blackburn we need to play 442 so for me it has to be Gabby & Weimann up front. Oh, and it is a shame about DB9. Hopefully it's not too bad.

I dont think anyone is saying they dont rate Bent if given the ball he will score time and time again. But the way we are playing hoofing it up from the back he dont stand a chance. IMO he will be off come the end of the season no matter what. And I cant seem him rushing back to have relegated on his CV!!

Thank you for playing for Villa Bent. I'm sorry we were in a terrible mess. I hope you get a move to a good club as you deserve to paly in a team that cam create chances and has some heart and spirit. Best wishes, thekentvillan.
