No Complacency For Villa Says Alex McLeish

Alex McLeish has been talking to Matt Kendrick at

Alex knows that no team is too good to just assume they will stay up and obviously, we are in line for a run of four CRUCIAL games. Wigan, Blackburn, Fulham and then Bolton (which I think will be mid week before the trip to Arsenal)

McLeish says they aren`t complacent adding "Everybody`s fighting extremely hard and you can`t take anything for granted in this league, just because of the name of your club - that doesn`t guarantee anything."

Adding, "It`s down to the players you put on the pitch, how much they want it for the club and for themselves."

He says you can`t just expect to turn up and win v Wigan, or any other team.

He also hints at giving some of the younger players a chance having impressed in the reserves.

"We will look possibly at using some of the guys who have played in the reserve games and it`s not a case of trying to do something different in the first team - just do what you have been doing in the reserves. They have been playing against athletic players in last three reserve games against Fulham, Wolves and West Brom and the players have looked very, very good."

Oh hang on, sorry, no, the cautious head re-appears, he probably won`t do that until we reach 40 points and safety. Damn, in my opinion the senior players haven`t done it very often for us, I`d rather give the chance to some players who give a damn!

"We want to climb the table, the next three games are extremely important, a lot of the attributes we are requiring from those games is commitment, total commitment. I have always said if you show that total commitment the quality will follow. They have that quality. That has to be a must.``

As Lawro said on the BBC site... 'I just feel they might be better if McLeish lets them off the leash a little bit and plays to their strengths. Maybe they are not creating enough chances, because Darren Bent will score if you give him the opportunity. So why don't they go for it?'

Does anyone care what this idiot says in his interviews? I guess not, given the lack of responses. More worrying, does anyone think he makes sense? Yes it's down to the players you put on the pitch, but it's also about if they believe in you too. And I don't belive the players believe in this muppet.

Win, loss or draw it will be another boring pile of crap like the 25 games before have been. What are you going to get the boys to do Eck... give it to the quarter back and tell him to pass to an offensive player up field?! With your new skills. I'm still trying to get my head around Eck thinking the City game was good and that it's the way we should aim to play?? Everyone I've spoken to has said it's the worse prem game they have seen this season. I didn't agree with that, I said it's the third worse game because of the Swansea and Spurs matches. Eck out the sooner the better, he's a no hoper.

Think you forget the Man U one at home AdzVilla11, my non-Villa friends were angry at ME because they had to sit through it. And I wasn't even watching it with them, it was texts. I really hope the recent internet rumblings about Randy selling to QIA are true, I don't care about a cash injection, it's the fact that it would most likely mean a new manager being installed.

I think most villa fans at the moment are just numb and apathetic... this clown is killing our club. I agree with you Adzvilla - i cant remember worse more boring games EVER, and i'm not just talking about villa - i mean ANY team i've ever seen! Spurs in particular was nothing but a negative surrender. It's almost as if games are deliberately being thrown. If i were mr william hill, i'd be suspicious lol. ECK Out!

Stephen! How could I forget the Man U match! Maybe I was trying to forget. thorpyuk I agree with you mate, most boring EVER of ANY team.
25/02/2012 02:21:00
"No Complacency"!!!!!! The headline should be along the lines of confidence in the players/a win!! He always seems to put a negative spin on things. He always errs on the side of caution. F**K OFF ECK. You've dragged a whole team and 95% of the fans down with your negative outlook and inferiority complex.

Ya think the Man U game was the worst, was wathcin it with a load of Man U fans and most of them left saying it was too boring to watch and then slagged me for weeks for sitting there watching that crap, the spurs game should never have been played we should just have given them the game and the "great" tatics on show against Man C made me laugh seriously when I heard him in the interview there was mostly anger but also some laughing at his stupid comments, this guy is a fool he needs to leave for the good of the club and the fans health, ive never been so depressed being a Villa fan, and your right 444 he does nothing but take confidence for the players, he wants to play young players but then puts pressure on them he is an IDIOT we need rid of him before next season and before he buys anymore crap!

Just shut up McClueless i have had enough of all the crap that comes out of your mouth
