Bates - Villa Won't Extend Delph Deal

Leeds chairman Ken Bates has said that Villa have always been adamant that Fabian Delph's loan deal was always going to be short term.

Speaking to Yorkshire Radio, he said.

'Aston Villa always said that they would not extend it but we will have to find out with whoever gets the managerial position, it will be their decision.'

So it sounds like they will try again, but with Delph getting a run of games unless he's coming back to go straight into the first team, there isn't much sense in sticking him back on the bench when he could be getting his sharpness and confidence back.

Good - To say he has been disappointing is an understatement

He is at the right level now. N'Zobia's level too in truth. Hutton is another one. Oh, Heskey come to think of it. All strong Championship players.

N'Zogbia's level in the championship? LOL

Still can't figure Delph out, just don't know if he's good enough. Maybe still hasn't had a long enough run without getting injured. But he seems awful sloppy whenever I see him play. And as for N'Zogbia being championship level? Nah, he just needs to play in a team that plays football, whatever that looks like, I can't remember.

Yes I agree with SJH, I think! Really though Delph would be a star but I'm not so sure now. Maybe we should try him in a more attacking midfield role. Can't understand all the negativity regarding Charlie. He was superb at Wigan and he'll be the same for us. He needs more freedom.

I think the freedom thing is partly Delphs issue too. I think his best game for us was in the 1 - 0 win at OT vs Utd who we all know we are always rubbish against. I think that he pulled us together and we made a great team performance. I think Petrov has been pretty good this season but would be intrested to see us play 4-3-3 with Herdy holding and Gardner plus Delph as the engine room. Zoggy Keane/Gabby when hes gone and Bent as the forwards. I think that would have us looking pretty good

I think we need Petrov to guide us through the important next 3-4 games. So would be happy if Delph extends his loan. Then, if we have got another 10 points, we will be safe and can start to plan for next season by giving Delph a game or two and see if he should be kept or given a free transfer (can't see anyone paying much for him if he fails again)
