McLeish & Co In Trip To Cleveland

I`ve sort of avoided this all day and was hoping Fieldy might cover it. Not because it doesn`t interest me, I sort of feel ambivilant about it, more because of the anger in the McLeish thread on the forum and also the anger on our facebook part.

I might be missing something but I can`t really get angry about such a small issue.

What issue ?

The official site: www.avfc.co.uk have reported that Alex McLeish, Peter Grant (the man that points a lot!) as well as fitness coach Adrian Sheep, or Lamb, or something.. and Dr Ian I`ll Have a Pint of McGuinness oh and .... ok, ok, I can concede, I understand why this will make you laugh... 'performance analyst` Patrick Riley, have all jetted off to talk to their counterparts at the Cleveland Browns.

So?

I know most want the manager gone, not just gone on a trip, but this might have been booked months ago. Not quite sure why some are jumping up and down in fury.

I personally don`t think I could give a care what he does in the off time, if anyone of the group can get anything out of this trip to benefit Villa then where is the problem?

And the quotes, like everything else, I realise will be ripped apart!

Chief executive Paul Faulkner said: ''When the fixture schedule allows for a break, such as this upcoming weekend, some managers may take time off to refresh ahead of the busy run to follow. Not for Alex. He is keen to do everything he can to push Villa forward. Alex is always looking for any advantage he can get and he felt this was an ideal opportunity to exchange ideas with his American counterparts at the Browns.'

The report also says that McLeish and Lerner have a close relationship and email and phone each day. Ok, that might start to ring alarm bells to be fair!

Martin O`Neill also went on several of these trips, so it isn`t new. The Browns medical staff also came over to Villa.

Hey ho, thought I`d best throw it up for discussion at least. Not that we can have balanced discussions these days, everything is so polarised. End of the day, not my fault that, I didn`t choose the manager. I do wish we could go back to happy campers though, this is all too tiring and depressing!

I reckon Mcleish is teling Lerner which players are letting us down, and he wants rid of and what players he needs in the summer? I remember reading a while back when MoN was stil here that Randy admired moyes and Mcleish so don't look like he is going anywhere soon does it?

Well the longer he is away from our players the better, they might even start to mutiny in his absence and throw him in the ocean when he's back, I have strange dreams I know...

I think Villa and Randy missed a trick here. What he SHOULD have done is take the fans to visit "The Browns" and left the manager to sit on the steps outside VP and think about the mess he has caused........it's good PR lol

THFC fan and I come in peace. I hope Mccleish and co arn't expecting any insightful coaching advice from the Cleveland Browns staff. They have just come off a losing 4-12 season and are in an absolute mess. The Browns are hopeless, they have the worst offence in the league this year and cannot even agree on who should play QB. Anyway good luck for the rest of the season and I hope that McCleish's trip is a fruitful one. It must be for business as there is nothing else to do in Cleveland.

ARTSPURS - give yourself more credit - there's the Rock & Roll HOF and Chagrin Falls..... and they can always take a quick road trip to Toledo - beautiful piece of Americana! :). And the Browns (just like every other team in the NFL) need a quality QB to expect success - they don't grow on trees! But seriously, I agree with the trepidation of Fear in posting this one. No doubt it will invite the usual reaction of unwanted negativity instead of being seen as, at the bare minimum, a solid attempt at professional development and improvement.....

Its just Randy getting everyone together to share information and best practise, right? I was so excited about Randy, how he did everything the right way: root and branch, evolution instead of revolution. I understood the need to scale back the investment - he lost a bucket of cash unexpectedly and financial fair play rules kicked in anyway: I understood what that would have to happen. However, there is a big question mark over Randy's recruitment and selection now. I got the impression Douglas was instrumental in the selection of MON. The messiah he may not have been but all in, you'd have to say he did a pretty good job. Others have spent fortunes and still failed to get anywhere. We got Houllier, we all gasped, we all worried and we were proved right. Then we went for Martinez and, to be fair, we all gasped until the alternative was McLeish! Then we got McLeish. We all gasped, now we are worrying and we could well be proved right. I also understand the Browns have been far from successful for a long time. How well respected is their manager? Have they changed him in recent years?

What was that Clive, Randy admired Eck, Moyes and also has Fulcker as his right hand man. This infatuation with gingers has got to stop FFS. We are a joke. May aswell have the dildo salesmen in charge. I know that's a horrid, horrid, horrid notion but you can see why Eck and they got on so well with the press PR.
