McLeish Looks To Gary Gardner

Alex McLeish has called on Gary Gardner to stick the boot in on the seniors and show them how it's done.

Speaking to the Official Site McLeish was full of praise for our 19 year old starlet and he really wants him to kick on this season.

'Gary is a massive fan favourite and he's also a manager's dream. We're all looking for Gary to make the grade here, the signs are very good. He is so respectful and he respects the club, he will go through brick walls for the club. He has everything.'

McLeish added.

'It's up to the big fella to take the reigns here. He is unfazed, I've told him to come into training and not be a passenger. I have told him to get the tackles in and not be frightened of putting the boot in to one of the senior lads. I don't mean that in a nasty way, I have tld him to put himself about. We're looking for Gary to be a Villa star now and in the future.'

Big expectations being placed on his shoulders for this season, but McLeish is right. If he's going to develop now how we hope then he has to stamp his authority, not only on the pitch, but also on the training field.

Show the team what he is perfectly capable of and give them the confidence to trust him to try things on the pitch.

He'll already have that from his fellow former reservists, the sooner the seniors trust him the better.

How about Pink Floyd's brick in the wall song? ''All in all Gary Gardner runs through another brick wall'' to the tune of the Pink Floyd song?

Any chance we could tie him down for life and build the future around him?
Stephen Jay Hawkings
Quality youngster and deserves a run especially with some of the dross on the pitch. Seem to recall Sir Alex pitching loads of youngsters in and we all know how that panned out. Let's go for it ,can't be any worse

I hope the optimism is well placed. But one step at a time eh?

Everything I've seen points towards an incredibly talented young footballer. I have every faith in him.
Adam Deuce
He needs to start some matches now. But I wouldn't give him his full debut against Citeh, it could have an adverse effect.
Pride of Lions
class player. get him on against city - show them what a loyal player is all about.

I was half hoping we would get Craig back to Villa to play alongside him with his homesick worries. I think he has matured to a good player and would help tie Gary even more to Villa! Whats happened to the other 2 brothers? Sign them up too!
