Macron Kit Manufacturer Officially Confirmed

Villa have announced on www.avfc.co.uk a record deal with Italian kit manufacturer Macron.

Villa explain:

Aston Villa are pleased to announce our record new partnership with Macron, Italy's premier technical sportswear label and our official kit manufacturer for the start of the 2012-13 season. Combining qualities and skills associated internationally with Italian sartorial elegance, Macron has established a strong international profile and a proven commitment to the technical excellence of its product and service since its launch in 1971. Reliability and determination - core values of Macron - are integral to its success in the conception, design, prototyping and distribution of technical apparel for sports teams from North America to the Middle East, Champions League clubs and national associations."

Villa are seen as Macron`s flagship club in the PL

In creating the new kit, the club have worked closely with Macron whose focussed development in design and materials is evident in its partnerships with clubs from La Liga, Serie A, Holland's Eredivisie and Portugal's Liga Sagres. The new home kit will be launched in mid-June at Villa Park and will go on sale immediately. A full range of apparel and accessories will be available from early July, distribution of which will be managed by the Club's merchandising department. The away kit will also be available in July."

Quotes from Villa and Macron: www.avfc.co.uk

Meanwhile Merchandising manager John Greenfield told www.avfc.co.uk

'We are now finalising designs for the new kit - home, away and goalkeeper. We certainly won't be going away from the traditions of the home shirt. Villa and Macron are well aware of our history and traditions. I think our fans will be thrilled with the home kit. We have obviously held meetings with fans about what they wanted - and they have most-certainly got what they asked for, in my opinion. With the away kit, it will be exciting for the club and supporters. There's an ever-changing market and we have to be mindful of our fans but also of trends and fashions. The home and away kit will be launched on the weekend of June 16. It will be a special day and we will be working with our marketing team on a special event.'

He continues:

'We went through 10 or 12 kit suppliers and did a lot of background work on each individual company and what pluses they could bring to Aston Villa.!

'As time went on, we made contact with an Italian brand that we had seen on our TV screens via the likes of Napoli and, in fact, some British clubs. They presented a very good business case. We went over to Italy and we were so impressed with the set-up and the fact they repeatedly said to us that they were looking for a flagship Premier League team to be their jewel in the crown."

The range is set to expand from around 25 to over 100.

"That's everything dual branded - Villa and Macron - real bespoke claret and blue products, from footballs to shinguards, wristbands to captain armbands, everything really."

'These will be exclusive to Villa. These are finer details we've never had before. It's an exciting new venture because this is going to be exclusive to Aston Villa.'

"We went through 10 or 12 kit suppliers and did a lot of background work on each individual company and what pluses they could bring to Aston Villa". I don't believe this statement, I bet it took 'em 5 mins to decide.

"We went through 10 or 12 kit suppliers and did a lot of background work on each individual company " you missed out the " we then went for the cheapest" comment. AND "These will be exclusive to Villa" but copied from West 'Aaaaam

John Greenfield will have done exactly what he said. He's been here for years and is Villa through and through, worked with Doug et al as well so he isn't new in. Sounds like the home shirt could be great, I'd rather wait and see and it looks like the is a good deal as well, up on the Nike one.
the fear
Thought that the Merchandising side of things wasn't going well atall Fear??? Maybe we need some new blood in that department??? Saying that, if we leave Randy to employ anyone else, they would probably be of similar "Yes Man " Ginger haired quality that is ruining our club already in Eck and Fulckner
Villan444
Not sure 444, in what way re: merchandising. Must admit, I rarely buy anything these days. With Nike we got no attention though, Macron might be more suitable to give us full service and bring out a decent kit. Dunno, will wait and see. I'm slowly sinking under the pressure of all the doom and gloom. For me we just need a decent manager to get behind and get some of the rotten apples out of the squad. All doable this summer!
The Fear
Just RE: lack of funds in the off-field areas although, only McGrath knows how Randy was expecting to sustain our outgoings unless we embarked upon trips to the far east every year and finished top 4. Hear hear as to bringing on the summer though mate, new kit and hopefully a new manager to unite the fans and get the stadium full of Villans with smiles on their faces!!!!
Villan444
There is no mention of what the deal is worth to us and am I right in thinking from the quotes it's only for the one year??
Ams78
its a record breaking deal and still there are accusations of going for the cheapest - LOL says everything that needs to be said
AVbornandbred
Macron make some quality kits iv got a napoli and mallorca macron jersey and they are the *****... way better than nike... much better fit... im really happy they went for macron...
CDX_EIRE
Im just worried they've (macron) banked on us being in the Premier League to be their "flagship club"
fatloser
Hum, Italian, - surrender, changing sides, defeat, - yep that's just about correct for villa at the moment.
Lost_In_Ca
It's a 15million 4 year deal. Better than Nike which was only 10m over 5 years. Well done Villa.

"There's an ever-changing market and we have to be mindful of our fans but also of trends and fashions." Expect a bright yellow away kit or someyhing like that...

The thing is can they deliver before we are halfway thru a season. The last shirt I brought was a joke tbh. Whether Nike or AVFC, as a customer I felt cheated. The club needs to look after its fans no matter who's fault it was. I feel that clubs change strips to often anyways so effectively lose the familarity and brand. I guess its just chasing revenue yet again and I feel so sorry for those that have to get more than one shirt.

Great to hear CDX_EIRE, thanks so much for that post, I was losing the will to live over the mass hysteria over what looks a bloody good deal.
The Fear
Great that it's on sale in June; every yar when we go on holiday, my little lad wants the new Villa shirt and I have to tell him that it won't be out for months. Now he can be poolside, prodly sporting the shirt we'll wear in our first push for promotion back to the Prem.

Good news on the deal. " 'We went through 10 or 12 kit suppliers and did a lot of background work on each individual company and what pluses they could bring to Aston Villa" <-- shame they didn't do the same level of research on McUseless!!
thorpyuk
good point onlyteaminthemidlands, glad your lad will be happy!

Thanks Mr F!
