'If It's Football, It's Vital'

McLeish Post Match Capitulation, Sorry, Reaction

Not really in the mood for this to be honest, not after our capitulation yesterday, but hey, we like to complete the coverage on Vital so here goes.

Must admit, the only words I`d really like to hear from this manager is 'it`s been a mistake, I`m off` but hey, Carlsberg don`t make Alex McLeish quotes...!

On the game he said they knew at half time it wasn`t over adding,

'I congratulated them on the first half but said 'I want to be congratulating you at full-time'. I thought they were international class in the first half."

Were we? I loved the fact we went 2-0 up, of course I did, you have to play counter attacking football v Arsenal as they will always out pass you BUT ... we got our goals against the run of play. Not sure that makes us 'international class`.

He goes on: 'Maybe Arsenal scored too soon in the second half? We had good possession on the right side, we gave it away and all of a sudden it's a penalty. It gave them a huge lift, no doubt about that. We looked a bit leggy at that time. "

He also says that he felt we could also have equalised at any time and once again manages to single out a player for criticism blaming Stiliyan Petrov`s missed chance.

'Stan had a great chance and we could have taken them back for a replay, but it wasn't to be. But we have to learn from that and try and attain that winning mentality.

He also blathers on about the second penalty being 'harsh`. Sorry, it was a pen. Just face facts, take some responsibility and stop looking for excuses.

You can see the full interview: www.avfc.co.uk

He ends, 'I can't fault the players, the first half was blinding. It's a shame about the second half." And he thanked the fans for their 'phenomenal support`.

Yup, the great claret and blue army, once again, let down.

A Millwall fan friend of mine was at the game said she was really impressed with the Villa support, said we sang from start to finish and showed real pride in our team. Oh and how plastic the Arsenal lot were and how funny she found it when (because we never stopped singing and they didn`t start until they had scored a second) they sang 'sing when your winning, you only sing when your winning`. And for those who say Villa fans are fickle, did you hear the Arsenal fans boo their team off at half time?!?!

Sorry this article is a bit disjointed, I think I`m taking a leaf out of the Villa`s book to be fair. ;o)

I've started to buy more petrol and be extremely unfrugal in my driving, in a but to give the Qatari boys that extra bit of cash they might need.......

I Don't believe Petrov should be singled out....that's poor management and i think the Ireland chance was more clear cut. #utv

An international class team does not consistently give the ball back to the opposition from the back every chance they get. This comment alone proves to me he hasn't got a bl**dy clue!
Dumble
shame McLeish didnt point out Petrov helped make both of our goals. Spoke with a Blue nose today and asked if McLeish ever took the blame for anything, he burst out laughing and said, 'no, don't be silly, couldn't be his fault' and walked off chuckling!
The Fear
oh how we could have done with a Parker at Aresnal to much is asked of Stan he has a hand in making both goals is expected to protect the defence (along with Gabby by the looks of it) and then is expected to score the equaliser. While instructions to the defence is Hutton you watch the winger go by you and the rest will hoof it as far as they can.

Im afraid its the same old de ja vu story at the villa again, Dunne and the rest of the back four need replacing, and we needa midfielder or two to be able to keep the ball better, i just hope this qatari royal family rumour a freind of mine has said there is interest with bringing Mourinho in as manager for next season is true time will tell.

man,s a clown full stop. as soon as i se gabby is on the wing my heart sinks. i knew it would be bad this season but not as bad as this.

Villa made a decent contribution to a very fine game, which they lost because of three instances of horrendous individual error. All the mistakes were not untypical of the player concerned. A late tackle from Dunne; a poor clearance from Hutton and a typical striker's tackle. So no real surprises there then? Villa certainly don't have the depth of squad to make a decent fist of the league and the cup, so they are better out of it. Its a pity because Villa's goals were of the highest quality. In the end you can't be too disappointed, when our club deliberately failed to build a squad capable of competing. If they are not going to try, its hard to make a case for being disappointed.

"International class"???????? WTF, are we San Marino or Andorra??

Ha ha this guy needs somebody to make speeches for him cause everything he comes out with is duck **** stupid, what a tool blaming players but of coarse not HUTTON who was at fault for 2 goals and was destroyed by a what 18 year old?? afraid its all your fault McIdiot your just too stupid your tatics reflect how you want to defend and not the best way to BEAT the team in front of you and not only that but WE CAN'T DEFEND i mean if a defencive manager can't get a team to defend properly then what hope is there??? im afraid for villa the is no hope and with McClueless there never was...
