Protest Banners Or Not?

Pretty simple question asked in our last poll.

McLeish Out Banners?
Poll Date: 18 Jan 2012
Suggested By: revolutionatlast

No banners, they will crush players confidence 41%

Next time we go behind 31%
At the end of the next match with bad result 19%
Next time we go behind playing 'Eck style' 3%

Making 53% saying yes in one form or another.

The other results:

See where we are in a month or two and ask again 5%

Unsure 1%

Sad time that the talk of protests are returning. :o( Villa will be the death of us!

The club should be paying us to turn up and have to endure this kind of anti-football. Heard more excuses from this manager than any other, (O'Leary included.) I don't see the problem with banners post game after the players have gone into the dressing room regardless, unless we actually play well (which has only happened once or twice this season and more to do with the opposition playing badly than us playing well anyway.)

and replace him with who? and that person will have even LESS cash than AMC because of the contract we'll have to pay off. No. No thanks. It's time to knuckle down. Demand more of the players than they are giving. Far more. They have it in them. But they are lazy bone-idle excuses right now (except Stan and Gabby). Back the team and the man at the helm.

Keep it away from matchday at the ground IMO. The 'Houllier out' banner at the Wolves or Blackburn game last season (can't remember which) was dragged off anyway wasn't it. The problem with that is it makes it onto Match Of the Day which the players watch. If it just made the local news with a protest outside the ground they wouldn't watch that anyway would they (he he) but the media and PR folks at VP would. What I would like is not to hear our so-called home fans booing players. You rarely hear it at away matches where there is more likely to be a larger majority of genuine fans. Consequently there seems to be less pressure on them and they play a bit better (possibly...)

I don't think it will help players or our success. But I think we should start chanting 4-4-2, 4-4-2, 4-4-2, 4-4-2, 4-4-2, 4-4-2, 4-4-2, 4-4-2, 4-4-2, 4-4-2, 4-4-2, 4-4-2, 4-4-2, 4-4-2, 4-4-2, 4-4-2, 4-4-2, 4-4-2, 4-4-2, 4-4-2, 4-4-2, 4-4-2, 4-4-2, 4-4-2, 4-4-2, 4-4-2, 4-4-2, 4-4-2, 4-4-2, 4-4-2, 4-4-2, 4-4-2, 4-4-2, 4-4-2, 4-4-2, 4-4-2, 4-4-2, 4-4-2, 4-4-2, 4-4-2, 4-4-2, 4-4-2, 4-4-2, 4-4-2, 4-4-2,

Its too late for banners IMO should have started before the transfer window as now no manager will want to come to us with no time or money to get players, we simply have to support the team but never NEVER support the tool in charge, we're stuck with him now until the summer but EVERY villa fan should do EVERYTHING they can to get this tit out in the summer cause I think i'll need therapy if I have to suffer another year of this total and utter S.hite

Thinking back when we wanted a manager out we didnt use banners just spent half hour after the game barracking him or Doug Ellis seemed to do the trick mind you they didnt call Doug "deadly" for nothing.

evo - it isn't about the money. please stop refering to tired old cliches in support of the club. We would have no issue with McLeish if we could see a pattern and a style of play, but we can't. We have the best goalscorer in the league but a manager that doesn't know how to play a style of football that makes use of this. There is a reason he spent 7m on Zigic when at Small Heath. . . . . .it is because he launches the ball at the front man. He hasn't got a clue how to use the quality in our squad. Our squad is better than Newcastle, Swansea and Norwich, but these teams are doing better than us whilst playing better football than us because of their managers. It is up to the board to find the next Rogers or Lambert. But this muppet that is currently in charge will never ever make the grade. If you are happy with what you have seen and think that it will get better then I applaud your claret tinted one eyed vision in support of our club. However I already have banners made and they will be appearing in a stand near you soon. I actually believe forcing him out of Villa Park is better support for the club than backing him.

That's bollox about away fans not moaning bassett. Obviously they cheer more but 90 % + people want Eck out. I don't know any other way of voicing our opinion. Obviously don't want the players suffer it as it isn't their fault. I would love one of these "support the team whatever fans who also hate the manager to come up with an idea as to how we go about getting rid of him??? And Evo, can't blame the players. Bent hasn't been lazy but he's been so isolated, do you want him to jog on the spot?? Warnock and Hutton haven't been lazy they're just ****e. The youngsters have been running round in circles. ALL ECK's FAULT. stop trying to shift the blame.

What if the banner said "don't be disheartened and lose confidence lads we fully support you and know you can perform under a decent manager (minus warnock and hutton), we don't want to create a bad atmosphere, we don't want bad press and we don't wish to appear as whining never satisfied fans. We just want ginge to **** off!" Might circle the whole ground.

haha Lion Heart! That's sums it up perfectly mate. Well said voiceoftheholte, I think it's absolutely imperative that we do everything in our power to get Eck out ASAP. I don't believe in abusive songs, banners etc but I do believe in getting our MSG across in passionately correct manor, there is nothing wrong with that, it's football. If the players have half a brain they will know what we are doing and who we are aiming our frustrations at. After all if we push to get a better man in the players will ultimately benefit as well, I'm sure deep down they aren't enjoying their football at the moment. ECK OUT THE SOON THE BETTER!!

voth - don't disagree with anything you said mate but for me if banners are going to be used they should be displayed before the game and at the end but furled up during play. Likewise it needs to be clear that the club / team have our full support. Players like Warnock might not be great but they should have our full support whilst in claret and blue and booing like sections of the crowd did against the blue scouse is disgusting. Protests should be before and after the game (even half time if needs must) but during play the focus should be supporting the players on the pitch no matter how good or bad.
