Nike Being Dumped - Good

No big shock here, after the awful shirt issue with Nike last season (or was it the season before, my memory has gone!) it is no surprise that Nike are going to be dropped by Villa.

Prepared said in The Forum > Click Here

'It is being reported that we will finish with Nike after them messing around with us and sign a multi-million pound deal with another manufacturer.

The rumours are Macron who make kits for Napoli, West Ham and Leeds.

It's not gone down well with some on twitter but I'd rather a smaller manufacturers put us first and get them on time, than a big manufacturer put us last like Nike did.

Plus I thought the Nike designs were sh**, only our very first kit from them was nice, I mean what was they doing with the cheques on the kits??'

The Birmingham Mail have a report quoting merchandising manager John Greenfield

John said: 'We will be in a position to make the announcement in March. At Villa, a contract is a contract and we would not want to do anything to jeopardise this.'

Admitting that we had big issues with Nike delivering the goods needed and although he wouldn't say who we would move to he did add,

'We have excellent strong relationships with many brands.'

My dream brand would be Adidas but the old Trefoil logo! eg: Adidas Trefoil

I think some of our best kits have come from the likes of Hummell in the past. Although a poor brand, I'd like to see something like Puma, a brand with some retro/cool approach

I was pleased when we got the deal with Nike but have to admit they have disappointed. Adidas or puma would be ideal, we can't have the same manufacturer as west ham or we will be bloody identical!

It may be sensible but it's a fickle world and I want a manufacturer that deals with the biggest and best in the world. I too would love puma - a retro, tradional brand with a tradional team with retro, traditional colours. Good match!

Leeds' kit is nice and traditional so Macron may prove to be a popular choice. Don't like West Ham's though.

Macron is Greek for long.... Does this mean it will suit the long ball game.... ;-)

100,000 plus shirts a year are sold with Nike. Watch that plummet with Macaroni! I'd rather we went the Spurs route with Under Armour, the US brand that is massive over there and trying to get into the European market. Macron is worse than Hummel if that is at all possible. How much more shine can come off the golden era under Lerner?

I like the Sheffield United shirt that I've got from Macron, so I'm cool with this.

hmm, not sure what i think about it. they only messed up once? they've been fine with getting the kits to us on time every other season, and have with every other team they make for. not sure i'm too excited about ditching Nike, who sponsor the likes of Man U, Barcelona and Arsenal, and switching to a brand where the best client examples you could come up with include west ham and leeds, ha. Puma wouldn't be bad, a big retro brand, they make Bordeux's kits and they're usually pretty nice, Spurs' and Newcastle's are usually alright as well. I've always been reasonably happy with Nikes designs though, i wasn't keen on last years, but the last Acorns sponsored shirt we had the season before last was one of my favourites for a long time! The lesser known brands always seem to have tacky features on their kits, i don't want anything like the arrows hummel put on their kits, or weird unnecessary extras like a yellow trim around the body!
