Old Stars In Action For Harry Moseley

The Villa oldboys are taking part in a tribute match for youngster Harry Moseley.

The match between the Oldies and a fans XI kicks off at 2.30pm on January 15 at Sutton Coldfield Town Football Ground in Coles Lane.

Whilst the full Oldstars team isn't known yet, it's likely Gordon Cowans, Ken McNaught and Colin Gibson will be on the pitch.

All the proceeds from the game will go to Cancer Research UK, the charity that 11 year old Harry raised hundreds of thousands of pounds for before his death last October.

His parents are hoping to attend to continue selling the bracelets for the charity, and his 14 year old brother Louis will play a part in the game itself.

Ken McNaught, general manager of the Aston Villa Former Players Association said he was delighted that the old boys could help support such a cause.

Speaking to the Birmingham Mail he said.

'Young Harry was an inspirational lad who raised a great deal of money for a charity that meant so much to him. It's wonderful to be playing this match in his honour, to carry on some of his fundraising work and to remember such a brave and generous young man.'

Doors open at 1.30pm and tickets are available on the day (almost 750 have been sold already so it should be a fantastic turnout) priced at £4 adults and £1 U16's.

Following the game there will be a show with live music, and food is available.

Oldstars games are always enjoyable, so I'd recommend anybody who can turn up does. Especially if you haven't had the pleasure previously.

They will also be action in August i think it is for a male cancer charity, Balls to Cancer (@Ballstocancer on twitter). Places in the team to play against the villans are apparently up for auction on ebay... Over 35's only in the team. (not trying to take anything away from the amazing work young Harry did.)
