McLeish On Keane Boost

Alex McLeish has positively gushed over the possible loan signing of Robbie Keane.

Speaking to Sky Sports Eck said Keane would give the whole club a boost, including the fans.

I beg to differ.

'It will give everybody a lift, the team, the staff and most importantly the fans. You are talking about a guy who is at his peak. If he is not as quick as he was he can make up for it with the quickness in his head. The reports we are hearing say he is in tip top condition. He'll bring enthusiasm, he has leadership qualities and he can score a goal.'

And come the end of March when he's returned to LA Galaxy, whatever he can bring to us will be gone, and we'll not have invested in a player who can move forward with us.

So we'll be back to square one.

It will be a sad day when Keane signs. Further proof that Villa have become a club where footballers go just before they die...or take up golf.
Why oh why? only Mcgrath knows!!!
At his peak??
tell me this is a joke , he will just ***** off whoever gets left out of the team to accommodate him. Probably super Marc , who seems an easy target
Lol. Peak!!!! Only McGrath, Pele or Maradonna would make our fool of a manager look good. DESPERATION defined!!! Peak???? Who the ***** does he think that he's fooling??
Just how out of touch and deluded can you be!? I'm sorry but for me it feels like only yesterday that we were at Wembley, spending £5m here and £12m there whilst legitimately challenging for CL places. Of course our current plight is better than doing a Leeds but reigning it in like we have hurts. It's possible that England's entire Euro 2012 starting midfield will have been at Villa in the last 4 years (Young, Barry, Milner and Downing) Imagine where we'd be if they were playing side by side in claret and blue (however idealistic that is!)? My point is the decline is huge, its fresh and it hurts. Loaning past-it and inexperienced players (if indeed anyone!) only highlights how far we have fallen so for goodness sake McCleish, don't crow about it and certainly don't tell me its given me a blinking lift, you imbecile! I predict your only accurate prediction will be that "he can score a goal." In 2 months I doubt he'll have scored many more!
Argh, I'm sorry but I'm really annoyed, I can't help it. You cannot immediately follow: "You are talking about a guy who is at his peak" with: "...he is not as quick as he was..." Thats like a second hand car dealer saying "Its brand new. Its only done 30,000 miles." AAARRRRRGGGHHHHHHH!!!
LOL, revolutionatlast. Keane has done more like 200'000 miles and needs a new turbo, tyres and basically everything else. PEAK FFS, ******** PEAK, how dare he utter such ******.
How out of touch is this bloke? To say it will give the fans a lift just proves he has no idea of what we expect at this club. I would say its had the opposite effect. Conplete waste of money. Ridiculous.
Lion Heart About sums up why we missed out on the likes of Hughes and Benitez and end up with mcnugget. Signing Keane on loan just shows how far our ambition has fallen!!!
Now I know he's taking the ***** out of us ..... Peak! yep , thats why Harry let him go and he's plying his trade in the MLS , because he's at his peak .
To say Keane is at his peak is truly pathetic. But what else would you expect from a manager who has always talked utter drivel? I'd normally say I hope I'm wrong when it comes to AM, but I'm past that now. I KNOW this manager is going to be a failure.
You have to wonder does McIdiot like making a fool of himself or is he really that clueless? I think the latter Keane was at his peak 4-5 years ago but the biggest problem for me is who wll be dropped for him? I mean McIdiot finds it hard to play Bent and Gabby together and in the right positions so where will Keane play? Probably seeming our best player Heskey is injuried he will take his place in midfield...Genius!
I would be very very surprised if Mr Keane registers a Premiership goal for Villa, but hope to be proved wrong.... as for the comments from Big Eck .... I'm past caring
He's at his peak, He's at his Peeeeak, Robbie Keane, He's at his Peak
Rumour has is that we're about to chnage our name to "Tottenham Villaspur". Are we now the same as Bolton of a couple of seasons ago where they started taking all our rejects??
Another thing, Alex seems to set his sights very low and it shows in his game plans. I mean he's practically cum in his pants over a 2 month loan deal for Keane.
I think he's talking literally, ie, if you're at the very peak of a mountain, there's only one way to go... will try desperately to give the bloke a chance, if only because he'll be wearing the beloved colours, but they're really testing our loyalty, patience, gulability etc etc
Lol, come on guys you're mis interpreting the ginger t**t. What he was trying to say is that it's the peak of Keane's career to play for Villa ;-)
No denying that Keane is a way better option than Heskey or the Fonz, but he's coming here to start games (im pretty sure it will be written into the deal). Im more concerned about who will be dropped from the team and how it will effect morale. I bet Dunne's happy though, he's found himself another drinking partner.
And Aston Villa push for the title yet again.
Avfc94 we do
"No denying that Keane is a way better option than Heskey or the Fonz". How do we know he will be better than the donkey? since going to liverfool he has never shown any promise and has not played prem soccer this season. The Fonz what chance has he been given to prove himself. If I was him I would be off ASAP. Then just watch in a couple of years as top 4 teams fight to sign him and we are all saying "Why did we let him go!!" sound familiar?? Keane brings nothing other than discontent among some of our young strikers. eck doesn’t have a clue
Should have put 'For the next 6 games' he's a better option. I hope!
No guys and gals, Mcleish didn't say Keane is at his peak? he said Keane's hat has a peak!
Don';t think there should be any loans for PL clubs allowed apart from in extreme situations, ie like us years back having to loan a keeper. This move is just silly, they say they want to reduce wages (I get it, fine... no issue) but then spend thousands on a player of his age and who has semi retired to the MLS?
The Fear
villa@herts ... Are you Serious ? If The Fonz was good enough he would have shone in the ample opportunities he has had. He reminds me of another Luke Moore. I say cash in if MON wants him for £3M. I'd put my house on NO top for club ever wanting him. AND NO i dont think Keane is the answer but if he scores ONE goal it will be one more than The Fonz given the same opportunities.
The Fonz has not ever been given a decent run of starts. Fact. So he is still an unknown quantity. Some think from what bit they have seen, he is another Luke Moore, some think he is a potential real striker who will deliver. No-one can conclude on these views, because he has not been given that run. The answer of if he was any use he would have been given a run is inadmissable, as we all should know that does not follow. Good players are left out and persistently poor performers are left in. He needs more of a run. Keane or the Fonz, I go with our own player!
Who's he going to replace in the team? Darren Bent of course, when he leaves us for QPR or Liverpool. I anticipate Bent leaving at 11.55pm on deadline day, meaning that the money we get cannot be spent on a replacement. Would that be McLeish's fault? Is it McLeish who wants to sign Keane? Makes you wonder what Randy's role in all this is. Having said that, I still wish McLeish would p!$$ off ASAP! Once Keane goes, the Fonz will then have an opportunity to shine, and we'll all see for certain how good he is in the Premiership. My suspicion is that he's not up to it, a view which first MON, then Houllier/McAllister and now McLeish all seem to support.
