Aston Villa Handed Tough F.A. Cup Tie

Aston Villa Handed Tough F.A. Cup Tie

Aston Villa have been drawn away against the winners of Monday nights tie between Arsenal and Leeds United in the 4th Round of the FA Cup.

The tie of the draw is no doubt Manchester United's trip to Anfield but the most important information is that Alex McLeish`s men are off to either Elland Road or the Emirates Stadium in the next round.

Following the 3-1 victory against Bristol Rovers, Villa will be feeling confident having survived a Rovers` storm in a "professional" performance in the words of the Villa boss.

Come on Leeds, you can do it!

The tie will be played on the weekend of the 28/29th January.

The draw in full as follows:

Brighton or Wrexham v Newcastle

Sunderland v Middlesbrough

Dagenham & Redbridge v Southampton

Hull City v Crawley

MK Dons or QPR v Chelsea

West Brom v Norwich

Blackpool v Sheffield Wednesday

Arsenal or Leeds v Aston Villa

Stevenage v Notts County

Watford v Tottenham

Liverpool v Manchester United

Derby v Stoke City

Everton v Fulham

Macclesfield or Bolton v Swansea

Sheffield United v Birmingham or Wolves

Nottingham Forest or Leicester v Swindon

Blimey there's roughly 5 local derby fixtures in that draw, interesting. Ah well it looks like its the league we focus on again until another year cos I cannot see us beating Leeds or Arsenal.

Please see my comment on the 'Who do you want in the next round' topic. I repeat it here. 'Everyone knows that the Villa ball is the one that has just come out of the microwave. The people drawing the teams have instructions to wait until they draw one of the big teams at home and then (and only then) draw out the hot ball. It was a lot easier when this was done on the radio. The Villa ball was square in those days.' As soon as Arsenal appeared, lo and behold, so did we.

well thats this season over so the only thing to look forward to is either a change of management or ownership or both! I can't see either happening and next season will be another serving of crap football all in the name of meeting the needs of a fair play system that frankly is not going to impact on AVFC one iota because we will never come within a country mile of qualifying. The best we can hope for under the present regime is staying out of the lower divisions but i wouldn't bank on it.

Not that concerned really...Cant see leeds pulling off a big shock tommorow night but Arsenal have champs league and their attempt to finish in the top four to worry about. I'm quite certain we wont be playing there best side so we have a little bit of a chance.
