is this the manager trying to talk down transfers to put pressure on the board for some money? Can be really be expected to do any good if he can't build his own team? Gulp.

villainthehighlands ...... I was disappointed with McLeish's appointment and still am. I'm also knowledgeable enough to know that the squad has had to endure a lot in the last 18 months and confidence isn't easy to install in players. All the crap put up on forums doesn't help because the gutter press pick up on it, pundits pick up on it and start jumping on the band wagon. We are starting to get glimpses of Nzogbia, Ireland and Albrighton lately so it isn't all bad. The Christmas fixture list was horrific for a lot of clubs including the Sky 4 ...... Swansea was disappointing but it came two days after a massive win at Chelsea and legs were tired as well as minds. We can all get caught up in the conspiracies and rumours. 14 months ago Newcastle fans were calling for Ashley's head and moaning about Pardew, they had no money, no direction, now look at them, would you have wanted Pardew ?? ........ we have big wage contracts ending in the summer, McLeish needs to rebuild the squad with a couple of quality signings and mix it with the youth we have, get the club back within its means. Only then can he really be judged. Some of these players such as Warnock, Collins, Delph, Petrov etc ..... aren't good enough, he knows this but he has to try and motivate them as he has nothing else to replace them with realistically. There aren't any managers out there willing to come here obviously otherwise we would have them already. Fans either support or stay away, I've tried to stay away .....(4 games). but the end of the day I love going to Villa Park to support my team .... through bad times and the good. Sorry astonmilan have to disagree with some of what you said, I have no doubt you are a true Villa fan but how knowledgeable I have to question as you say McIdiot needs to rebuild the squad with quality players? do you honestly think he can attract quality players? im a crap player and wouldn't want to play for the fool (would love to play for villa or get the wages they get) then you say Petrov, Collins, Delph aren't good enough, I agree about Warnock but sorry but Petrov has proved himself time and time again to be a quality player, Collins with a proper manager can be a great defender and Delph has a lot to prove but has always had the potential just again needs a manager capable of devolping him, McIdiot is a ridiculas ECKcuse for a manager and will NEVER EVER come good even if Randy gave him 500 million and he bought the best players in the world he could simply not use them and put them back about 5 years, I will support Villa till I die even if we are relagated as im sure you will but i will NEVER support this fool and have lost all respect for Randy not because he is cutting back sometimes a business needs to do this but because he appointed this idiot, Randy can gain my respect again if he sacks this fool quickly and brings in a proper manager capable of improving our team but McIdiot will never have my respect.

MON has been at Sunderland 1 month and he has almost equalled Potato head's points tally in that time. Difference between a good and below average manager. And you talk about quality signings from Eck. Please!!!! The bloke doesn't know quality. He has never, ever, ever played good, attractive, exciting or successful football. Players need our support true but the owner and manager and their cronies can ***** off.
