I`m quite please with this!
I said yesterday in the Robbie Keane forum thread: What? AGAIN? The Annual Transfer Link Returns!!! .... that I`d love to know the reasoning behind getting someone in for just two months.
I must say I`m still baffled and as some readers will no doubt have realised by now, I don`t agree that any Premiership Club, let alone one of our size, should be loaning players at all... the rules should not have changed, I find it small time UNLESS I guess it is with a pre-agreed permanent deal fee is in place.
I digress.
Paul Brown has spoken to Alex McLeish on www.avfc.co.uk and McLeish says the experience of Keane is the main motivation.
What about the fact the Spurs fans say the players legs have 'gone`? Or that he`s semi retired to the MLS?
However, as I also said in the thread, it isn`t my money and it isn`t my job on the line, so... good luck if we get him, just seems ten years too late to me! lol
McLeish said: 'Robbie has got massive experience as a striker. That's first and foremost. We have a couple of good, young players but at the moment they are still a little bit fragmented, their appearances - 10 minutes here, 15 minutes there. Nathan has had a couple of games but I feel we need the old head. Robbie is a great character as well. Players can light up the dressing room too and these factors are all so important in this professional game. I just think the glove fits. He can score goals. He is capable of hurting other teams with his team play."
Are Gabby and Bent not experienced enough?
Who do you drop in favour of a loanee who will only be here (not a criticism, it is a career) for a two month pay day?
He also says that the deal isn`t done yet and they should know by Monday and puts it at 'better than 50-50`.
Looks like it isn`t that popular a move amongst Villa fans. Our poll results:
Robbie Keane 2 months loan?
Poll Date: 05 Jan 2012

Bad deal 74%
Not bothered either away 15%
Good deal (ideal!?!) 11%
Just seems a circus this new trend of Prem players going to the MLS then coming back on loans. Be interesting to see who gets dropped to accommodate the player?
Aston Villa borrowing players... jeez. :(
