Bent Staying - Drogba Linked ! Collins OUT?

Ok, well.... here goes for more transfer talk.

I have it from within the club that Darren Bent is 100% not for sale, not going anywhere, offers will not be listened to... I`ll take that to the bank, I hope it doesn`t bounce!

A few reports today seem to agree that Villa will block any approach.

The Mirror say that QPR have bid 3million for James Collins. Other talk, or should I say whispers, indicate he may well be on his way to Sunderland.

I have to be honest, when he first came I had never heard of him but he quickly became one of my favourite players for what I thought was a great work ethic and attitude. After last season put simply I`d have been happy to drive Collins and Dunne anywhere they wanted AWAY from Villa and my position on that has not changed. I thought their conduct was a disgrace. I don`t like that in a Villa shirt. End of! Ooooh, look at him being all angry! I`d also ship out Stephen Warnock. Bring in a new defense, be shot of what I think are bad apples and maybe McLeish will get an organised defense.

Bolton are also said to be interested. Cool, we`ll swap for Gary Cahill then! We can do a buy one (Collins) get one free (Dunne) ? reckon Villa will bid for Didier Drogba as we look to entertain bids for Darren Bent. Nope, don`t buy that at all. No meat on the bone for that story so no link to them! We can all make fancy headlines to chase hits! Look, Messi In Shock Move To Villa. Easy!

Mat Kendrick at says a move for Robbie Keane is in the balance as Villa weigh up if the 250k cost is worth it for two months. Villa... it isn`t. We are Aston Villa, we should not be loaning players!

Interestingly Mat also dismisses a link I heard in confidence on the QT that we were after Tottenham`s Croatian midfielder Niko Kranjcar. Shame, that was a whisper that I quite liked!

Chelsea, Aston Villa and Malaga are watching Borussia Dortmund striker Lucas Barrios. If you speak German:

The Daily Record have us linked to Ki-Sung Yueng from Celtic for 6m. Would be great for marketing.

Reports from Germany claim that Aston Villa are ready to rival Real Betis' interest in Fortuna Dusseldorf centre-back and DR Congo international Assani Lukimya-Mulongoti

Please no Robbie Keane. Looks desperate! Ki-Sung Yueng would be interesting... has a great attitude and work ethic!!!!!
Yes Mr Fear Kranjcar is exactly the sort of player Villa need if we have to buy Spurs left overs then at least buy the half decent ones.Ki-Sung Yueng possibly but not for 6 mill.would part exchange him for Hutton, there again would part exchange anybody for Hutton
I think you are being harsh on Collins and Dunne, I agree it is not nice to see the way they acted, that being said we do not know what provoked it. We are wasting our time looking to see who is coming in and hoping for some big signing. it is not going to happen, so we are in the bargain basement shop looking for miracles. COTVABU
irish villa
Fleetwood have now turned down 1.2 million for James Vardy - he fits the bargain variety Villa need. That fee I understand is already 6 times the record ever transfer fee for a non-league club. He is not a risk - he is an investment who might make it - but will not be a financial loss.
no one wants we will sign keane, typical villa.
I think selling Collins for 3m would be a waste - very good defender. To improve on him, i think we'd be looking at near 10m which would be silly
Fear, can u ask the club to tell QPR to up the amount for collins to 3.5 mill and we'll throw in Dunne.
just read further Fear, and just seen the B.O.G.O.F.
Drogba is a non starter. Even if he wanted to join us ,which is questionable to say the least, we would not pay his wages ...
Wouldn't risk losing Dunne tbh but i'd be happy to see the back of Collins...Along with Mcleish he is the reason for the ugly displays we have been putting on and if anyone argues with me, that is why gary speed took him out the wales team, he can't play football.
Get rid of Collins, Dunne and Warnock in my opinion. All useless hoofers.
Kranjcar would be awesome, i get excited about the thought of us buying him everytime he's linked to us. Lucas Barrios is a decent player as well!
Get rid of Dunne, Warnock, Collins, Hutton and Heskey. Bring in Samba, Cahill, Kranjcar and Ba.
Avfc94 we do
Avfc, sell 4 defenders and only bring in two ?? yes Clark and Herd can fit in but we are really struggling for squad depth, Samba would be a good shout, Cahill has already agreed terms with Chelsea, Kranjcar would walk into our side, But if Newcastle expected 35m for a unproven striker who just has height then Ba, someone who has scored 15 goals in his last 15 games would probably cost more than what we paid for Bent, Right now i believe players like Drogba, Keane, Samba, Kranjcar and Pienaar would be great additions in terms of experience and quick term fixes to allow our youth players to adjust slowly into the premiership and learn from some top top players who have nothing but professionalism, unlike half the bunch we have at Villa.
Villa 4 Ever
LOL. Drogba to Villa in our current state has got to be the most unlikely rumour( if you can call it that) that I've ever heard. Who do they think that they are kidding.
Do people not remember how good Collins and Dunne were 2 seasons ago. We had the 3rd least amount of goals conceded and that included the 7 against Chelsea. They may not be the most skillfull players, but we don't want them to go on Messi like runs FFS. Who do people want to replace them also. They don't become ****e overnight. They both fell out with GH last year. I don't hold that against them. The man was a pompous tw*t who didn't understand the prem (although his philosophy may have worked in a different place and time, given time.) They clearly have been stitched up after coming here and promised a good career run and a chance of some success. Would anyone else be as motivated after being told a pack of lies by Lerner and then see GH and the Ginger one turn up?????
You are living in the past, 444, if you think keeping Dunne and Collins is Villa's future. We don't expect Messi runs, but we need to be able to build from the back like all good football teams strive to do. Otherwise we are asking a hell of a lot too much from our midfield players - hence the lack of chances created up front. If they were rock solid sensational , like they were closer to two seasons ago, then it might be different with reliance on the full backs to be good going forward. But 2 years is a long time in football. There is huge support for Cuellar, and Clark. Why the heck we cannot show more confidence in those quality youth on our books who have shown up well when selected I do not know. I would be happy with a back line of Herd, Clark, Cuellar, and Baker. We cannot buy superstars, but we can grow them. These players are not the ones who have let us down. So play them.
I hear we are interested in Kaka? a load of it, keane, andrews etc :)
agree with stenny, i also think we shud be scouting players from this next gen tournament
Hahaha. Drogba here. So we sell of the rest of the team to afford his wages for one month? Such a non starter of a rumour. And if we sell Dunne and Collins who do we replace them with? Samba? Why would he join us with Spurs, Arsenal and even Chelsea possibly interested? Cahill? Too many bigger clubs knocking. Who else?
Know what you're saying Stenny but the others aren't all ready to play every week. They should be eased in over 6-12 months. As much as i like Cuellar, his distribution was as bad as Hokey-Cokey's when he was here. 2 years IS a long time but not enough to make him into a decent passer by playing a handful of games. Dunne and Collins are worth more to us as players than any sell on value also.
I do not understand all this about easing in youth. Barry was not eased in. Cahill was not eased in once he got to Bolton. Becham, Giggs and Scholes were not eased in at Man Utd. Nor Rooneyat Everton. Most of all Gary Shaw was not eased in. He never played for Villa until the season he played every match - won the Young Player of the Year Award, and we won the League! To not give apparently good players much greater early opportunities is cutting our own throat. Agree re Cuellar - but he remains committed and effective as a defender. So he ticks one big box.
Barry started as a CB then LB then LW and eventually CM. Rooney fell out with Moyes about not playing every week as he was so good in his first few games (and he's a different class to most.) Manu're had the likes of Butt, Ince, Keane etc. who also played there. In fact Fergie is reknowned for never playing the same 11 every week. You're correct RE: Shaw but memory doesn't serve that well. I want them to do well, don't get me wrong but we need some experience also and what happens if we have 1 or 2 injuries?? Do we play the youngsters who are younger than these youngsters and have even less experience?? Whoever is in charge needs to rotate and keep them all on their toes and in this day and age every team that wants to play in more than 1 competition needs 6-8 defenders who can all step in to do a job. Sadly with Eck in charge, we'll be lucky to be competing in more than 1 comp. every year so we may aswell sell the whole team and play the kids. Maybe not ease in the youth too much but throwing 3-4 in at the same time is suicidal IMHO.
lol@eltoro, yeah, done the deal mate!!!!!!!!!
I know what you are saying villan444, for me they were an effing disgrace last season and were allowed to do whatever they wanted, not good enough for anyone in claret and blue and for that reason, will be glad when they are gone. We have a few players who I don't think give a damn and show it regularly, bad apples, clear them out, start again. They seem a common denominator no matter who is managing (ie some under MON then GH and now that new one we have, what's his face?!)
I get what you are saying re: falling out with GH BUT they are bloody well paid and should do what the manager tells them, if they don't like it, put in a transfer request. What they were doing ... or NOT doing (on the pitch) was just a joke. And the Man City fans said we'd get that from Dunne, a good season then mediocrity.
The Fear
True Fear, they should do as they're told as they're being paid but I feel their pain. As much as I will never stop supporting The Villa, I can choose not to go if I want. Collins and Dunne can't, this is their life every day. And I remember how immense they were in the near past and still hold them dear because of that. A lot took GH's side over them and he's never done anything for us. As you say, they should've put in a transfer request, but then they'd alienate the fans even more and they'd lose bonuses and may end up on the bench with no team atall!! Think we should let their contracts run down to blood the youths and they seem to be behaving themselves on the pitch now. They aren't playing well but neither is anyone else regularly except Gabby. Would they get back to their best under a new manager?? Probably not, but they have the valuable experience to bring others on?!?!?!?!?!
looks like keane is a go-er. why get a forward if we don't have any midfielders to service? not that we don't... just that McClueless doesn't play them effectively.
I think you are being pretty harsh on Dunne and Collins about their attitude last year. I think if nearly any player will struggle to perform, bitch and moan when they have absolutly no respect for the manager. I don't think they were the only ones either, i think Gabby was in the same boat re: bad attitude on the pitch and his performances reflected that. but nobody was jumping on his back. I think Dunne and Collins should be allowed to recover their reputation, it's just a pity they have been given another bad manager.
Keane - No, Collins - Yes but 5m, Ki-Sung Yueng - Yes & Assani Lukimya-Mulongoti - Yes. Simple.... get it done!......
Pride of Lions
I don't think we'd sell Drogba to you guys and I also doubt you'd want Drogba in his current form .
